You mean that a contract rep job is so vital and important to the health care of America that the company has to hire "floaters" to cover an open territory when somebody's off for a week or so?

I guess the entire healthcare system will come to a screeching halt if some doctor in Podunk Valley runs out of Lollapallooza pill samples ....

No, but the contract company doesn't get paid for open territories or when you are not making calls. It is all about the contract company getting as much money as possible.

Anyone have an useful info about this position? Seems it's been posted forever. Yup, I'll check with my recruiter, just wondered if anyone had already inquired about comp for travel expenses. I see it's Alcon, but I'd rather be working than not.

I don't know about this position, but we did have 4 floaters on one my my old contracts. I had one of them work my territory when I was out several for a surgery. I you are young and single it might be ok. I know for the most part they were in a different city almost every month and probably only got home maybe a day or two a month. A lot of times they would change where they were going at the last minute. Most the time they had no impact and were lucky if they even figured out where they were going before it was over. I know they were promised they would be first in line if an opening on any contract happened in their home area, but I also know that didn't happen. I don't think it gets much closer to the bottom of the barrel than a floater for a contract company.
