Naito is Shameless

I'm a scientist, numbnuts, and thanks for the courteous reply. People on my end know nothing about the goings on in NJ, and I was just hoping for some insight. We're all in the same boat, remember?

I had to look this up...

Channel stuffing is the business practice where a company, or a sales force within a company, inflates its sales figures by forcing more products through a distribution channel than the channel is capable of selling to the world at large. Also known as "trade loading", this can be the result of a company attempting to inflate its sales figures. Alternatively, it can be a consequence of a poorly managed sales force attempting to meet short term objectives and quotas in a way that is detrimental to the company in the long term.

Really? That's what those guys have been doing? Trust me. The R&D staff knows NOTHING about any of this crap. We see LC once a year for his state of the union speech, and we go about our thing. No one tells us anything. We're waiting for the hammer to drop on EPCS, and are being kept in the dark.

Are your for real? You tell me that smart scientists like you could not figure out that there was something wrong with a company that has not come up with new products in 10 years. Halaven appears to be good but how many years did it take to bring to market (22 or so?). Same with eritoran, forget how many years that has been worked on only to find out there was nothing there. So why would you think that NJ is different than your own back yard?

Sweet creeping jeezus, WTF is your problem? We scientists only work on what we're told to work on. I've worked on these drugs, and yeah, they've taken too long to develop. Eritoran should work, if they stratify patients. A fucking TLR4 antagonist isn't going to work against staph. All we hear, though, is positive sales reports, and keep up the hhc back-slapping. Eritoran appears to have been the tipping point. Everything has changed.

Christ, the attitude here and hostility to coworkers makes me wonder what kind of douchebags Eisai has working in sales. Seriously, I'm not the enemy, and trust me, the research staff has nothing but respect for you guys. Maybe I should have more people read this board. I'm sure their opinion will change.

Don't believe everything you hear about sales reports. As a scientist you know all about how one can make numbers tell different stories. They would not be doing all this cutting if the sales numbers were good. Yes, Eritoran was the tipping point because it was like the perfect storm with locaserin, aciphex er, and the poor 23 performance. Can't spin this. Interesting Eisai scientists not familiar with this board. On other pharma sites scientists appear to carry on debates and conversations about their work and leadership.

You so called scientists better start producing something worth a damn. Seriously, I could mix stuff in my fridge and pantry and come up with better drugs than you guys.

LOL yep reeeeeeeeal scientific to get your info on caphefarma

Hey, give the guy a break. You hear they are kept in the dark and know nothing other than what LC tells them once a year at the state of the union speech. Scientists are not chatty like us sales folks and tend to be more trusting if you show them numbers. True, CP is not the Associated Press, but it is kind a like a grapevine and anonymous "water cooler" talk. Some things will be true some will be false but better than radio silence.

Thank you. That's all I'm saying. We don't know shit about the marketing end. That's why I was interested in asking you guys. Now, I'm thinking that it was a mistake. And please, let's not get into a "I could mix stuff in my fridge better than Eisai drugs" debate. You're better than that. I hope.

It's the old divide and conquer and hoard information approach. Knowledge is power at corporate so the guys at the top keep it close to the chest to control the outcome. Transparency is a big buzz word but is only supposed to work in one direction: you be transparent with your boss-not the other way. Question: when the bosses dictate to you what R&D projects go further without listening to your input on chance of success, what justification do they give you? And what do they say when the project fails like eritoran? Is it "your" fault then or do they admit stupidity?

You are too funny. You are the reason Eisai hasn't had new products in 10 years. Do you even read the stuff you wrote? Please don't insult scientists who have brains and think. It is not dark age anymore, internet provides more information than you even can read.
