N. Texas P. Care morale

What's the deal with the PC world in N. Texas? I've never seen morale at such a low. Too many reps not working; any form of decision making being taken out of the rep's hands by micro managing (don't even get me started on the S3's chiming in); too many managers completely disconnected and now they add another MSCAM.....It's not as if one of the two MGAMS already in place even works. Mr. P, please help the region out before it's too late.

Amen on the Nth Tx. S3's. It seems they have forgotten how to work and have swallowed an "I'm important" pill. They are all trying to clamber over each other to get the all elusive differentiation piece. Better to just scrap the position and try to remind them how to be reps instead of pseudo managers.

What do you expect when you annoint someone that's done very little to deserve being promoted ahead of someone else! The account positions were so bogus because all of that changes in the blink of an eye and there's little real loyalty left in the world (certainly not at Merck) and some of the others have done nothing really tangible in their short careers! One that's never been a leader, another that would not know how but can create a mean spreadsheet and cannot work her territory! One that's been around awhile but destroys the english language whenever he talks and has fed off others work his entire career! Remember a number of those in the decision making process for S3 had very little time with Merck themselves and were probably not qualified so this was Alex at work! In case you had no idea of what he thinks of work ethic and reps you do now!

I agree! They all kiss ass and we know it, the ones that actually sell get nothing, but if you don't sell and your territory sucks then you are an S3, don't y'all know that the pip is done this way! If you kiss ass you get 130 percent of your bonus, if you work hard and keep your head down and have great numbers you get screwed at 85percent . It is not sales it politics! Many S3's just sit around and don't do anything useful, none revenue producing if you ask me! Have fun when it comes to differentiation ! I hope most of them get bonuses taken away!

With the S3 positions in place, there now appears to be a culture of subterfuge. Discussions and decisions that used to take place between you and your manager, now have an extra set of ears forced upon you-your S3. It appears that, as the S3's have so little tangible work to do, managers either willingly or unwittingly include them in everything territory wise.

The sad thing is that, despite their lack of awareness of the issue at hand, or knowledge of the topic, the S3's no problem inserting their opinions or thoughts into decisions that shape the future of the S1 and S2 reps. This is resulting in the S3's becoming more alienated at the cluster level as their cluster counterparts realize what is happening.
Still not sure why these positions were created and suddenly granted the keys to the kingdom. Perhaps even more troubling, is the veil of secrecy that managementthem. It is not as if the best candidates even were interviewed for the respective positions. S3 positions were created for each manager or MAE to bring in their favorite yes man or woman and management is now scratching it's collective head as to why the experiment is not working in N. Texas and the rest of the country.

Geez! Jealous much?

Geez! Jealous much?

Not what I see. The OP is telling some cold, hard truths. If the S3's are so talented as a group (that is not to take away from some, who are/were exceptional reps), why has no one seen any real successes from them? Everything we see them do seems to be something that a true CTL could or should do. It looks like they are trying to carve out little things for them to do. Geez, has there even been a job description for this position? Seems like the Merck robot Austin Yoder was involved with the S3's and not just compensation.
