MVX Etiquette

Can we please do away with the "hope all of you are doing well" crap? I get so sick of hearing that unctuous phrase too often put at the beginning of an MVX. Just get to the point of the message. We all know most of you leaving MVX messages for a district or more could really give a shit about how someone is doing. Please?

That is freakin' hilarious! I have thought the same thing. But, its too big-everybody has done it for so long that it will never change....just know that every time you hear it that its coming from another Merck robot.

Robots is right on. The number of "real" people who are still left at Merck I can count on my fingers alone. The rest are pretty much a bunch of robots, rotbutts, merbutts, or whatever. I'm sure everyone has a good idea of what I mean.

Would you rather hear "hope you morons have a lousy day"? It is customary to start or end an MVX with something other than just business. Besides, sometimes "hope you are all doing well" is meant sincerely. Just take it that way, whether the messenger means it or not. Stop being such a sourpuss!

Totally agree. We may not like Merck right now but it is still the proper way to greet someone before communicating the rest of the message. Now that is etiquette...topic of this thread.

Don't be a sour puss.

Merbuts. That's funny.

"I hope you're doing well" is the least of the problems with the MVX. Calling a VM an MVX is annoying - everyplace else calls it a VM. But at Merck we have a special system that is completely different from all other systems and it requires a unique acronym, alas introducing the MVX. That, my friends, is truly what is more wrong with the system, much more so than saying "I hope you're doing well."

Actually, I could appreciate the "hope you morons...." greeting. I'd get a laugh out of it anyway. Maybe I am being a bit of a sourpuss and I agree we have much bigger issues to be concerned about now. Once it was customary at Merck to firmly believe that medicine was for the people and now that belief seems to be only history. Again, you can call that being a sourpuss but that bothers me more than anything right now.

A simple HELLO and then get on with the message would be acceptable. Hope you're doing well- they don't even know we are alive except when they are doing layoffs or increasing target levels.
