This is what he has planned for my "life ever after" because he says I'm such a gem. Says he's getting the blue to match my eyes. But I don't know who he'll give it to.

What a guy.....

He wants to go into an hour glass so he can be turned every day.

Have any of you made YOUR plans?

Interesting, DD and some nice rings. I have all the ashes of my past cats and plan to be cremated and put with them. After that, I could care less as I'll be DEAD. Mr. Gams has no plan but he loved his cat Monty very much and I will put them together. He never had any kids and this cat was his buddy for 21 years.

Interesting yes and has to be a joke. Either way, I'm not showing it to my gf. She likes jewelry waaaayyyy too much. I don't need her getting any ideas!

Hey GG, they can make you a cat diamond. They have certified pet facilities vs. family facilities, so I am betting that they wouldn't be able to handle mixed ashes. Some people would probably not want grandpa's ashes anywhere near someone's beloved Rottweiler.

I'd better read it again - it's a joke , right? And you know I have a Rottweiler, right? Actually a Muttweiler but equally effective.

That's bad. I love, love, love rings - especially sparkly ones. Is this a joke? How can you turn ash into a stone? I think it is just a scam to get people to pay $2000 too much for a semi-precious set stone. Personally, I have hand made, one of a kind pottery with lids as urns for my kitties. People think the pots are beautiful and my beloveds are inside. Someday, I will join them.

Check state law if you intend to have your ashes interred. Our family had an interrment of my mom & dad's ashesin Arizona last November and when my sister went over to put their dog's ashes in the hole, she was stopped and told it was illegal to mix animal & human remains. We were equally as flabberghasted at that bit of information as we were that my parents would pay to have a dog creamated and save the ashes. Sounds ridiculous but check it out.

Vag, I live by the old adage: What they don't know won't hurt them. My dad's ashes are in a box at my mom's house. No one has come to see what we have done with them. Frankly, my mom has spread some of his ashes on a lake (illegal) where he used to boat, at the country club, out in the orchard and the rest are on her fireplace at home. I doubt anyone is going to give a rat's ass that this old gal is home with her cats. Screw authority. I could care less and my kids will do what I have asked of them. I seriously doubt anyone will figure it out. . .ever. But I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

I should add, we are not the type to have any ceremony or service and no site. My dad went right from the hospital to ashes and home. After my mom felt better, she threw a big pary to honor his life.

I believe this is true. And yes, people will pay $2K for one of these rings. I'm still trying to figure out how they can make them from hair as well. I remember seeing an expose' on the news a few years ago.

Agree. We had dad's ashes for 6 years until mom went. Their wish was for their ashes to be interred in the same place, along with the dog when that happened. The mistake my sister made was walking up to the hole and saying she was adding in 'Sybil's ashes per their request. That's when she got stopped. Had we known that, no announcement would have been made and it would have been a done deal. Next family get together, we all plan to visit the grave and sprinkle the ashes. As for me, I aready set aside money for the party and their WILL be a band.

That's totally assholey that it is illegal to mix animal and human remains. It's the same result, ash and bone remnants from a high heat cremation. I have to find out about the state laws, too, as my wishes are to be mixed with my dogs and scattered.

Hey, little of topic, but I have a question about cats. I really want a cat but I am allergic to them. I was reading that there might be a hypoallergenic or less allergenic type of cat. Is this true? Thanks.

I have a Blue Point Modern Siamese which is considered an oriental shorthair. She only sheds twice a year and has nearly no dander. There is also a safe spray you can use/wipe on the cat once every couple of weeks that keeps the dander from being allergenic. Cats do make great pets. A central vac and good dusting and cleaning at home can help keep the animal's shedding off your furnishings. Make certain you spay or neuter your pet.

I think (as GG said) that if you want to be scattered, what nobody knows won't hurt 'em. In this case, mom & dad had a plot picked, the whole family was there, their ashes were lowered, sis walked over to scatter 'Sybil's' ashes in the hole with theirs and she was stopped by the director of the cemetary.

Next time we have a family get together in Tucson, you can bet we'll visit the marker and scatter the ashes on the spot without asking her (as in oops!). The buimmer was, their wishes were that they all be mixed together and I respect a person's last wishes. This is Arizona we're talking about.

But GG, if you make him into a ring, he doesn't shed at all and he doesn't eat as much either - just sayin'?

Thanks GG!! My daughter has been begging me for a cat for years, and we even went to get one, but I started sneezing. Then I was visiting a friend who had a cat, and I was not having any allergies, and I fell in love with the cat. She said it was a hypoallergenic cat called a "baby doll". But then I looked in it, and they go for over $3000. So I was wondering if there was another breed with less allergens. I really like the spray idea!

If no one makes a big deal out of spreading your ashes, there probably won't be any problem. In SC ashes can only be scattered in "scattering grounds" at the cemetery.

Just tell your family NOT to make a big deal about it.

Another thing about SC - if one wants to be cremated there is a waiting period of a minimum of 24 hours before heading to the oven. If there is a family member (immediate) who doesn't want the loved one cremated, it goes to court and a judge makes the decision as to whether or not the dearly departed gets their wish.
