Minnesota Judge places BSX on three year probation and $296 million for hiding faults

As a doctor implanting medical devices to save patients life, how could you have any faith in this company. These are some scary facts coming out in the open.
Today is good day to say you work for Boston Scientific. I am so proud to say I work for Boston Scientific. I will never walk into a hospital again with my Boston Scientific scrubs. I might get beaten up.
Now I fully comprehend why so many talented people have left this terrible company.
My resume is on the street. Good riddance

I was watching TV with my family last night when a reporter starting talking about a huge medical device settlement. She started to talk about the ethical responsibilities of a corporation. My daughter turns to me and says "daddy don't you work for that company."
I wanted to crawl under the couch and hide.

Think of it this way...

1) CRM is not the business to be in if you want to feel like you're operating on completely ethical terms.
2) The desire to leave Boston is understandable, but there are no "guilt free" alternatives.
3) If that is the case, then AT LEAST you know that Boston loyal physicians have come to expect that disappointment comes with the territory. If you go to work with STJ or MDT, doctors will still be SOMEWHAT shocked that something like Fidelis or Riatta could come from such "reliable" source.
4) I have three kids, too, and although I can empathize with your shame - if your daughter enjoys having her Barbie-themed birthday party every year - then that is not happening if you're middle managing a non-profit or some other "guilt free" assignment. Your daughter just got her first glimpse of situational morality.

"As a doctor implanting medical devices to save patients life, how could you have any faith in this company."

This question first came out in 2004. It was reasonable then. Seven years and multiple new recalls later, its completely ridiculous.

If a doctor implants Boston today, there can be a few explanations:

1) He's mostly a brady guy. Boston's pacemakers are fine, but so are everyone else's for that matter.
2) He's been hemmed up in a group or a facility that made a volume commitment to Boston. Price has trumped safety.
3) He's grown too close to his Boston team and has "Stockholm Syndrome". He feels obligated to supporting "Tim" because it's not Tim's fault that his company sucks. Tim also gets great tee times in a pinch.
4) He's grown beyond the desire to learn. BSX are the products I know. I can do 4 ICD's a day since Tim and I have a "rhythm". If I go with MDT Bob, I have to teach him my rhythm and (even worse) remember that its 12 turns with their lead instead of 8. That means 6 months of hour longs cases, and when you multiply that out - it means no boat.
5) There are no other local reps. The volume wasn't big enough for STJ or MDT to gamble on it, so Tim the BSX guy is the only game in town. This lack of volume also meant that MDT and STJ were unwilling to come off their pricing, so it didn't make any since from a financial perspective either.
6) He's never seen a Boston device fail in his clinic. This one is understandable.

So, OP, your question was "...how could you have any faith in this company?"

I think faith stopped being a deciding factor years ago.

Now is that you have been placed on three years of probation; you must be careful in hiding facts and your Cognis and Teligen cans have accumulated lots of hidden faults; what are you going to do now? Can we expect few thousands of MDRs on MAUDE soon?

Tobin must be enjoying his retirement!

Good Luck guys.

I can see your problem, anyone with self respect and dignity will not work for BSX.

Again all CRM companies are like that, no one is honest and for the money they are killing innocent patients!

It is like pimping for your wife and even daughter! It is shame.
