Micromanaging our calls per doctor level

Wow, I thought it could not get any worse. It just did. I have never had any of my managers in my past companies coach me on reach/frequencies. This is not what sales a product. Grow up Amgen! Selling is about relationships. Some doc you will click with but others you will have to work harder to gain their trust. No 2 docs are alike. Stop treating us like kids and trust our judgements! Stop pissing me off!

Well this is a rare time I will disagree with coaching on that front. We have a metrix to meet. MEET THE METRIX! Everyone else does, why can't you? You get to do you own POA, so put people in that you call on regularly and all of their partners. There is no excuse not to meet reach and frequency and you should be told about it! Then call on the people you need to to sell the drug, but meet the requirement.

You shouldn't have let all your peer pod monkeys do this work for you in the past, it's a simple exercise in getting the right message to the right clinician the right number of times which allows you to "sale" your med. See, this is where being the least productive monkey in the pod hurts you, now you have to learn everything more quickly as the "branch manager" (that's the biggest monkey in the tree, or, in this case, the only monkey in the pod). You're welcome!

Funny, how you assumed that I did not meet my reach and frequency goals. That is the easiest to do. The only metric I go by is the sales goal and I already made over 100% for the year in S1. I just don't like the fact that some managers will be using this to check up on their reps and tell them who they should be calling on. If we are making our numbers, who gives a shhh about reach and frequency. Just let us go do what we are paid to do and stop treating us like kids!

Because, (and read real slow) that is what you are measured on as a part of sales. You are expected to touch so many HCPs a day and they want it recorded. If you hit your reach and frequency, maybe you could sell twice as much Prolia. Instead, you meet sales goals, but not call goals. That means you do just enough work to get by and don't put in any extra effort. It will show in your ratings and your compensation.

To the post above, You're a Moron!!!!
Don't you realize this industry has gotten people to be robots rather than sales people?
I really had high hopes when coming to Amgen thinking that this was a true biotech company. But instead along with Bhbu expansion, they hired all the pharma people where they keep count of stupid things like call frequencies and how many lunches they do. This Bhbu is suppose to be the elite and experienced sales people so why not back off and give us some room to do what we were hired to do?

BECAUSE IT'S NOT HAPPENING! I don't know what planet you are from. The only time you are left alone a little is when you are performing. Even if you are close to syringe count, the business unit as a whole is not where they want it. They pay you. Shut up, do what they say, or go find some other job where they leave you alone.

Elite sales people? How do you figure that when Amgen hired Reclast reps fired by Novartis. Those former Novartis reps didn't join Amgen in February because it was a better deal. Those reps were out of work On Feb 7, 2011 - for a reason.
