Michigan - why so many positions?

Seems like WC always hiring in Michigan (job boards). Constantly. What's up with WC?

News Flash, its not just Michigan, WC is constantly hiring people across the nation because the turnover rate at this company is astronomical. Unless you have been out of work for a long time (i.e. 9 months or more) do NOT apply at WC. I know pharma in general is struggling, but this company is worthless- it doesn't even deserve to be called a pharmaceutical company because it is not.

You don't sell on science, you buy bagels and frosted cookies hoping to "buy the business". If you have more than five years of experience, you will know more than your DM and 99.9% of the time, if you are 30 yrs or older, you will be working for someone younger and less experienced than you. You will be forced to obtain at least 10 signatures for drugs everyday. These doctor signatures must come by 8am and after 4pm- even if you have to break the law to do so (i.e. clinics that don't take samples- you still need to get providers to sign for samples so you can "prove you saw those doctors") I laugh about this one because there are clinics out there that take your computer back for signatures you DO NOT witness. So, if company leaders think this is a good tracking device- they are delusional!

Your drugs will be very expensive, because WC's motto is they shouldn't have to discount drugs. Even with 8 other competitors in the same class (including a couple of generics) and your drug coming in at five times the price of your competitors... the expectation is, as a good salesperson, you will be able to overcome ANY cost objection. Also, the less you know about managed care, the better. In fact, I think most managers say the less you know about managed care- the better you are at handling the cost objection...which proves at WC- IGNORANCE is bliss!!!

So, if you think this sounds like a successful business model- jump on board! You will fit right in on this sinking ship!!!

All I keep reading is Buy Businesses! My God how much do WC reps have to spend each month? I My company only has 1000 a month.

We start out with a budget of $15,000 per month (no, I'm NOT kidding), but eventually you spend so much money per month you over spend, then you have to call our expense division... they will happily increase your limit to $25,000 per month (once again, I am NOT kidding), we call it "graduating into the 25-thousand club".

In December I only spent $9,000 and my manager asked me "what were you doing all month?! We give you an expense account so you use it!" It's sad, you're forced to buy bogus food and treat your friends and family. However my family has never eaten better! .... My parties always have the best food: Christmas, Super Bowl, birthday, St. Patrick's Day, Flag Day, MLK Day, etc...

You think this is crazy, but it's true. I never thought I would ever be able to spend this kind of money. You are basically told you have no expense budget. I constantly reach $18k, $19k, and even $20k each and every month. I have never had the pleasure of joining the $25k club, but two other members of my district have done it.

You are essentially buying the business. You are told to spend on anything and everything you can. You end up taking friends out for drinks and your family out to eat and tell your manager you took a doctor. At first I thought this was unethical, but it was my manager that told me to do this. At POA meetings late last year we were told that we had spent over $25 million as a company on dinners with doctors through the end of August. This wasn't even for the year, it was only for the first two trimesters. Imagine if we took those resources and did some advertising or actually tried to make our drugs somewhat affordable.

In the end, the business model for this comany is all wrong. Most of us here are just waiting for something better to come along and then we will leave. Sure, we won't make as much money, but at least we will have our dignity.
