Miami Meeting Safe in Pandemic?

Is anyone opting out of nsm meeting due to covid concerns and protocols? Many factors are weighing on me including busy airports during spring break, touristy Miami,
large crowds,etc..
I just don’t feel I’m ready as the last 2 years I have not travelled or put myself in positions that I maybe traveling to and from meeting from west coast and all the interactions in between. I’ve been able to do my job successfully wearing a mask and other safety precautions, but now this is a big step up and I don’t think I’m ready in a pandemic still.
 






This company is going to force people to fly across the country to listen to these group of mindless idiots
blabber on about nothing. We will have breakouts and endless role playing.They will do the BS president club presentations. We have nothing new ( dry eye drug is NOT approved) . If and when it is approved what do we have to look forward to? 5th in line for dry eye in a market with generics ,no coverage and just coupons for the under 65 yrs old patient . We don't need a national live meeting with Covid still out there . These companies are monkey see, monkey do, nobody thinks out of the box, look at these other pharma companies: same shit ,same BS marketing detail pieces and same trend to live National sales meetings! The cat is out of the bag; Microsoft team meetings are cost effective and the company can get all of their BS vomited out without the pain of flying across country.
 






I know several not attending due to covid concerns so they will check opt out -I don’t think it wise to subject people to this under these circumstances when there is an alternative and of course possible liability issues. I also heard there will be testing everyday, mask, and social distancing. Vax or unvaxxed is there going to be segregation and or labeling? I don’t know, they should just MS Teams it. I usually have at least 2 connections to get all the way across the country to FL and really don’t want to travel to the spring break capital of the world during covid/pandemic.
 






All I have to say is the posts on this thread are from wussies.

Wear a mask if you are overly concerned, and NO there isn’t testing every day. Most of the sales force is vaccinated, and tons of people have already had COVID so we are in great shape.

Even the ultra-paranoid state of California has moved to mask free—-see the Super Bowl??

In early Covid days a game like that would be a “super spreader” event——hear any of that on the news since then—Nope.

bring some hand sanitizer, take a chill pill, and enjoy the meeting.
 






Enjoy the Meeting ,Enjoy the Meeting?? BS talking heads , role plays, endless Rah Rah ! During normal times these meetings are waste of time but during a pandemic these meetings live make No sense! Do a Microsoft teams and get it over with.
 






Things could always be worse, Putin could be sending nukes our way and Covid 19 would be the least of our worries.

But I’ll miss not seeing you in Miami as I vaccinate myself with all the company paid beer and wine I can get my hands on while pretending to listen to the talking heads drone on while I scroll through LinkedIn on my phone.
 


















There's no good time for a meeting because we don't get enough out of it for what the company puts in. Especially now, after these last two years. I don't like pretending to like being there and it's been nice not to have to do that song and dance for a while. That being said, I'm not afraid to go, I'm so done with covid. If the shots and boosters haven't made you feel safe enough then you will never feel safe. I just don't want to go. We have learned over the last two years that we are not a family, they are not loyal to us and we should not be loyal to them, and we can get laid off at any time. We just want to go out and do our jobs and be done after the last call. So thanks for organizing a meeting and maybe corporate did it to make it feel normal but I don't want to go to these things anymore. I will go if I have to and consider it part of my job but these people saying they are afraid? Please.
 






Well said! I think that this company showed its true colors last week ( one day email and sit by the phone). They spent the money 2 years ago for this BS meeting in Miami. It will be a true shit show with phony rah rah that they are begging people to participate in(they are still asking for reps to film some of the most juvenile primary care crap). The last 2 years have proven that live meetings are obsolete and Microsoft Teams are very cost effective. I don't care about being together ,flying across country and sitting in a freaking hotel doing the same BS that is not of value to anyone. Please treat us like professionals and not like Romper Room!
 












Stop defending this company. Where is the outcry for the people who were blind sided last week, no warn notice done that day. No insurance, shitty severance package, car gone within days. Many of these people left good jobs to come here not that long ago. I know the risks working in pharma but this was the coldest thing I ever witnessed.
They hired people knowing about this change..why??? How can anyone justify this.
What about the people who lost all their customers and have to start over. Who “aren’t allowed” to say goodbye or explain the changes What about six products in your bag.
I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to go to this shitty meeting. Use COVID as an excuse and stay home update your resume and get out.
If you feel valued because you kept your job and didn’t have any customer disruption then you’re blind and very lucky.
Eye care is not primary care we have strong relationships and this will effect sales and I hope it does. six products good luck not getting fired cause you messed up your inventory.
Have some compassion and realize there are so many of us disgusted and don’t want to play the game so the “leadership” can show off for a week.
 












Look junior same drop off reps this company is a pos hell or. Was an episode on Netflix Dirty Money and screwed tens of thousands. This company I has been the worst company in America to work for maybe for 30 years now. Suck it up and ask chubby Charlie for some chocolates
 






I heard reps got 6 months! I bet they’ll get a new job in a month. I’d love to get that much when my me too opth goes under soon, I’m just curious why they laid people off and didn’t fill open territories? Hiring?

This is the best post of the week. What are the repercussions for staying home? There are sure to be some I feel like we will have a target on our back. We’ve booked out an entire hotel just for our meeting. In the name of covid safety. HUGE waste of money.

Which hotel? If it is possible, go and explore the city. I'd go to Key Biscayne, Miami Beach, and all around Miami. Try Joe's Stone Crab. I used to visit this little coffee shop that offered a large variety of coffee from around the world. They consistently served the best cup of coffee. Make the most out of that trip.
 






People are stealing left and right from this company and stealing in ways that no one understands.

Weak leadership breeds more weak leaders.... Most of them are Sanofi cast offs.

Make the most out of the trip?? Your life will be controlled from the minute you get on the plane to the minute you get on the return flight across the country to get home. If I want to go to Miami to explore( I have been there and once is enough) I will go on my own dime.
