merck layoffs

Actually...quite the opposite of being next. This move of Mrk only solidifies the contract. Merck is cutting significant numbers in primary care (respiratory), among other divisions, and thus, the Touchpoint reps will pick up more responsibilities - at the same pay with the same lack of employer-provided benefits. In other words, does this further secure the contract? Yes. Does this mean more promotional responsibilities for the Touchpoint sales personnel? Yes. Does this mean more work for Touchpoint personnel? Yes. Since it's more work, does this mean more pay? No. :p

Exactly! I would like to have a job,but not working like a full-time employee ,with part-time pay!

You truly are a completely fucking moron and therefore a perfect fit for a 4th rate outfit like Touchpoint Fucked Up Solutions. Enjoy!

You don't have a clue what full-time pharma is like if you think that. How many dinner programs do you do? How many fire drills to churn data? How many conference calls do you have? Sure you have pressure to perform when you are on the job, but you don't take that pressure home with you like we do. You also don't have climbers on your team who will throw you under the bus to prove they are more worthy of promotion, or a boss that does the same thing. Just saying, if you ever do go back as I recently did you will see that the other side is a lot harder than you remember. I miss my flex job . . .

You think these people are 4th rate? I left a few months ago for a full-time job, but before Touchpoint I won more than my share of awards with big companies and so did the other reps in my district. Touchpoint has their pick of super reps who want to stay engaged with a job they do well, but don't want to deal with the self-evident immaturity of people like you.

To your point, we do not have dinner programs, however, our conference calls have increased and substitute "fire drills to churn data" for "fire drills to churn testing and training" for products that we don't detail or sample. Try servicing your customers at the height of a particular season and NOT have the resources to do so. Also, we might not have the severe back biting that you are experiencing, but some of the 2up territories are not all that rosy.

With the impending lay-off at Merck and the dissolving of the respiratory division(yes, you heard it hear first), there will definitely be a change in our workload, with probably no increase in compensation. Just saying, if you are able to come back to your flex job on THIS contract, it may not be as sweet as YOU remember .

We don't know anything other than what has been reported. Whatever the plans are, they are, and it's anyone's guess how things will go. This is a gut-wrenching time for lots of people. One thing we can do is step up. In any imaginable scenario, if we do that, we help ourselves. The other thing we can do is demonstrate class.

How many products have you trained on in life? I do remember not having samples. That sucked. Not as much as having samples that nobody wants, though. I'm not saying flex wasn't hard, just that it was a lot different. I miss it, to be honest. Hope it works out for all you guys.
