Merck cuts 13,000

Was told today by my Merck manager that I might want to start looking because the Merck contact could be on the chopping block with all of the cuts. Any one else heard anything or is he talking out of his butt as usual?

Anybody on the neuro or neuroscience team should be worrying whether you are Merck or Inventiv. As for Merck, Maxalt will be generic soon, they had to scrap Telcagepant, and Saphris is not a blockbuster. From my understanding, Saphris is the drug that Inventiv promotes or co-promotes. You should definitely start looking now b/c as they say it is always easier to find a job when you have one. At least you have a heads up that it could happen. This gives you time to plan. Good luck. I hope you are able to find something.

Janumet XR didn’t launch as planned, even when it does it’s not going to do anything. 1Q2012 is the launch of Januvia/Simv – dumbest idea ever. The CV/metabolic contract is up this year and my CTL doesn’t think it’s going to be renewed either. Also, suggested I might want to start looking. DUH! Hated to tell him I’m always looking.

Problem is they don't have anything worth a crap to sell. My DM said that they are going to combine the resp and CV into one sales force so they won't need the extra manpower.
