Merck contract

I have never heard of anyone on a contract finding out more than 4 weeks in advance that a contract is ending. That is by design, they do not want reps leaving early because the contract company still has obligations to the pharma co. - # calls etc... I worked on a contract and did not know for sure until the week before the contract was up that it was given a six month extention. I would be shocked if an announcement is made one way or the other before Thanksgiving - unless Merck ends it early, and then they only have to let reps know two weeks in advance.

No on one national conference call they said they will let us know in April if we are getting extended. So if we don't hear anything this month we will know its over.....

never heard we would hear in April but heard they had a better chance of telling if we are making a difference by April. I heard we will be told something in July but I dont think we will hear anything until November. Does ANyone have any info if it will go past Dec 2011?

I think all of the signs are pointing towards this ending in dec. I do recall them saying that they would have more information by April. Well April is almost over and we haven't heard anything.

What they said was that they would evaluate results through April. Right now, we have results through Feb. Pay attention and don't start stupid shit.
They will know July if they want to maintain this model as part of the sales force. And no one keeps secrets in this business so we will know shortly after they decide.
Other options are that they keep an EPBU but it is different. Less headcount? More products? all kind of shit is up in the air right now. So just go make some calls while you vcan make a difference

Was talking to a friend who holds a key position within Merck that is involved with this contract. People, beware...that's all I can say. Dust off those resumes and send them out NOW. Apparently, it looks like another contract salesforce is what Merck is more interested in. This sales force is already active and are selling the respiratory portfolio's key products. EPBU is slowly fading into the sunset and this other sales force is what most of Merck's key decision makers are interested in. From what I was told, it's really not about the performance of PSS, since there is no question in that. There are other forces at play here which I am not at liberty to discuss at the moment. Good luck to you all...

So, is your "source" saying it will end early or end in December?

Good to know. Will start start looking ASAP

Heard from a reliable source that we are going to Dec '11 and that's why we were given Nasonex, doing a great job. Mgrs. are meeting next month (May) at headquarters and that's when we will be told if the contract is extended.

The contract you are talking about is Ventiv and it is fulltime. Can flex timers apply to the Ventiv contract.

^ This is ridiculous. It's like asking can flex timers apply with other companies? Ventiv is an entirely different, independent contract company from Publicis and Merck. So, going back to your question, Yes, you can, but really, it is essentially applying with another company for another job.

Heard we are for sure until the end of 2011 they are talking of an extension and we are suppose to know in July but I am not sure we will know. I think if we dont hear anything by July we can assume it will end the end of the year.
