With all these reps getting laid off across the country, and Contracting being such a huge part of the business, is it really even possible for all of us to find jobs now? Do we have to face facts and do something else? What should we do?

I'm so confused.... I guess I have plenty of time to think about it now...

Yes, of course it's possible. Find a recruiter. If you can't find one, come back here and ask people to post contact info. Don't let the Ethicon machine discourage you. There is life after Ethicon!!

Sell da Vinci Surgery for ISI. You'll realize the superiority over straight stick laparoscopy and wonder why you didn't leave mother Ethicon earlier anyway. The smart ones went to ISI a while back and are now with a company that is expanding its sales force vs laying good people off.

Intuitive? They're red hot right now, but it won't last forever. If they miss a few more quarterly earnings and procedure projections, some heads are gonna roll.

This business is changing from top to bottom and it won't ever again be like it was. Fucking weird...I was so stoked when I got into device 10 years ago because I thought it was such a secure industry. Now, no matter what, we're ultimately gonna make less money if we stay in this line of work.

Just remember, it could be worse. You could work in materials management.

I've been laid off before and can be the best thing that ever happened. I was also with EES once and you'll realize that there are TONS of opportunities in device or other sales fields. You're not going to find the high base you probably that with JNJ, but you're going to find out if you're a real sales person that can execute on a quota. JNJ creates a bunch of passive aggressive reps that end of losing their edge because comp isn't set up for you to go kill something and drag it home to eat. Also, it really is just a job; you're going to have a lot of them between now and the time you retire so keep what's important in perspective. If you're confused then pray but remember that God doesn't care WHERE you work, he cares HOW you work. Keep and eternal view and you'll laugh at all of the trivial things.

well said . Plus now you realize there is no loyalty to companies only to people and yourself. Now you will also understand why alot of good people have left before . Their much more out side the JnJ umbrella

Nothing wrong with hanging on, right? Who needs fulfillment in one's career. The docs need our support and expertise in the OR. Rise and shine tomorrow, don't want to be late for tomorrow's big case.
