Any eye care reps on here still? How are you feeling after our first week at BL? No surprise we’ll be selling Meibo soon. That did were still around. I’m getting sting reorg vibes.
 








There will definitely be a re-org sometime after the new year. Currently, they are not back filling any open positions... which.is usually a clear sign.
It's too soon to really answer "how's life at B&L".... so far I feel like it's the economy model of pharma. Hope I'm wrong and that they'll be able to do great things with Xiidra. I don't think Meibo is going to be as successful as they'd hoped.... time will tell...
 








You guys are like high school seniors who graduated a year ago; but return and roam the halls, remind everyone how great the glory days were, telling everyone how cool you once were and how your fart jokes made everyone laugh. Your Dry Eye drop, was cool 10 years ago when you had Jennifer Aniston, the Prom queen, by your side. But Jennifer has moved on and you’re now engaged to that weird looking dry eye goblin character and you work for B&L-The WalMart of Pharma. It time you get back into your Z28 and leave high school. Everyone has moved on…It’s time you do too.
 




I honestly don't know... I can see the reorg starting in January for a March end. As they have said "nothing will change for now. No way they can sustain 423 reps ( Miebo,Xiidra, and Vyzulta) time will tell.

couldn’t agree more. No way they can sustain that many reps for DED nowadays. However where I disagree is on the timing. I don’t not believe a reorg will start in Jan. I honestly think it will be before the end of the year and closer to end of November. My guess is that they will either simply cut many Novartis reps ir make them reinterview for jobs at lower salaries. They’ve announced they will have a team selling Xiidra and Meibo and right now those KAMs are very few. I think that’s where they will want to build up a team and pull current BL reps or NVS reps. Each will be offered the opportunity to interview for that role. Territories will be much bigger for this role also.

Not only will they not address the inevitable layoffs- but they keep hounding us about how there’s so much money on the table and we need to be out there keeping our eyes on the prize for that big retention bonus (that we’ll never see.) It’s nauseating to say the least. “Business as usual”…til you get an email late on a Thursday telling you to stay home tomorrow and wait for a call!

Why would anyone in their right mind wait for the “other shoe to drop”? You have had a year to find another position in a pretty good job market. If you become unemployed it is your own fault for failing to act.

National unemployment is 3.9 %. Lowest in my lifetime. Recruiters have their hands full finding qualified reps to fill specialty positions. I get three calls a week wanting to know if, “I know anyone looking to move”. My answer is always the same. I don’t know anyone that will work hard anymore. Most think doing a lunch is a days work.

Same can be said of the quality of the work force. The constant re-shaping of the sales source by way of reductions in force and mergers give employers additional chances to refine skills and correct hiring mistakes. It is magical thinking to expect employers to stop.
 




The bottom line is there will be layoffs and realignments at B&L sooner rather than later. It was even said at the meeting “you will know by the end of the year if you have a job.” You can either wait around to find out or be looking for a now one.
