MD qualifications

If you don't have a medical license, then should you be allowed to work at Amgen? What happened to minimum medical standards? I am shocked we have doctors without licenses with the most of them in safety.

A medical degree, with or without specialty boards, and relevant clinical experience are of course part of the required CV, but an active medical license is not required to work at Amgen or anywhere in the industry. Actually, most of our trials are global, so one would not even know where to keep the license valid. No, I do not work in safety...

this is correct. Also consider alot of MDs left medicine to go to industry and let their license lapse. On a global level, consider alot of MDs in pharma have their degrees from less than best countries out there, i.e. Russian, Eastern Europe, Italy etc. and they are in high positions in Pharma...so really you can get your MD out of a cracker-jack box and still have a lucrative career in Pharma if you have 1/2 a brain..not even.

Europe you have to have a cracker-jack box MD degree to be in certain functions (i.e. MSL or Medical Affairs) with no industry experience necessary, and you can have the degree from like Belarus or Romania or some Balkan country where blood letting in still in practice. But then again, Europe is backwards, pharma can do all sorts of things that are illegal in the US (off label promotion, etc.) with no threat of any fines or criminal action. So basically Europe can say FU to the US DOJ, and do off-label advertising, seeding trials etc. all run by crackbox MDs. In fact Europe pharmas can take FBI agents and F them up their asses, and they can't be touched!
