Mass Exodus is about to begin....

The question is why is this happening? Here's the answer....

1. Culture has changed dramatically. It is GONE. No more trusting the Reps to do the right thing. Instead let's micromanage them to death. Let's fire them for making a mistake, rather than warning them. Giving someone a second chance will result in earning their loyalty. Reps are afraid to enter a call in siebel for fear that if they make a simple mistake they will be fired.

2. Bonus Methodology is severely flawed. If the system was fair we wouldn't have the same reps winning awards over and over again. It is statistically impossible unless the system is flawed. Not to take anything away from the award winners, but the system is not working fairly for all to play on an even playing field.

3. Goals are unattainable for the coming year.

4. The change to hiring inexperienced reps will come back to bite the company big time. This is supposed to be a specialty company with tenured, mature, experienced reps. The idea that you get the young ones for cheap is true, but you also get what you pay for. HUGE mistake in hiring.

Hopefully I won't be fired for speaking honestly here. The culture change is definitely the biggest problem facing the company right now. I personally know 12 reps that are leaving soon. Many more are interviewing. We are about to see a mass exodus that could be prevented by LEADERSHIP stepping up and making some tough decisions.

PLEASE BRING BACK THE TEVA CULTURE! LEAVE SALES ALONE AND LET THEM RUN THE BUSINESS, NOT MARKETING.

Culture is gone. Whatever happened to "where the best people choose to work" or "our mission is to be the leaders in neurology"....now its just One (generic) Teva. Go Beyond.

Outsider:

All these posts are regarding what is currently taking place. This used to be a great place to work and reps were treated like adults. The culture was the best in the industry. Now it has become a place where you are treated like a child and told what to say and think. The culture is no different than any big pharma company out there that views the reps as talking heads for overinflated marketing departments. The egos and condescension from these marketing bafoons is staggering! This is why a lot of good reps that built this company are going to leave this year. The other companies have recognized the gold mine they have wandered into, and are contacting just about every rep in the company to come work where you will be compensated and appreciated. It will be sad to watch all our great reps leave while leadership sits by and watches it happen.

This is not unique to Teva. Expect it in ALL companies, even the ivory tower biotech's. All have watched what Mother Merck and Pfizer have done, i.e., micromanage, to hell with experience (and the salaries), and reduce headcount. Let's face it, with PHARMA rules, HIPPA, a move to credentialed MSL's and Legal questioning everything, the industry has become one of glossy detail aids and CRM software. It's come to the point that even a caveman can do it. In our case the cavemen are the Ken's and Barbies willing to work for $50K. Conform or be cast out, move the bottom 25% up or out.

Well said, however why stay at Teva when competitive companies and soon to be competitors with orals are offering a heck of a lot more base to tenured reps to come work for them with minimal training required. If we're all the same why stay here? I'll pack my bag and go make a lot more money in base and hopefully a more fair bonus system.

Biotech rep here. Funny, everyone at Genentech feels the EXACT same way. Roche has put the nail in the coffin. But, where is there to go? That's the problem. What company doesn't treat you like a child and nickle and dime you on merit raises and bonuses? What companies are your reps looking to go to?

Acorda , Novartis, and Serono to mention 3 companies currently after Teva Reps. There are several others that will be upscaling soon. We are all now free agents in this industry and money talks, period.

And eventually these companies and their culture will all resemble what is being discussed here. There is no Nirvana - you may find a cure for what ails you at Teva, but you may also be surprised by some other form of disease at another company. The devil you know is better than the one you don't.

for sure, you could be at Sanofi-Aventis!

serono is NOT any better - run by a bunch of nazi's and good ol' boys (just like Teva) oh yeah-half of them are from Teva DUH! picked them up cheap when Rebif launched. just a bunch of ex-jocks and growth hormone jacked yes-men. that is what big-pharma has become!

"you could be at Sanofi-Aventis"

I am at SA and we are probably facing lay-offs again. I applied for a job at Teva and after reading the boards here, I'll probably just wait it out at SA. I was hoping to read posts from current employees saying they love working for Teva.

We too are not only micromanaged, treated like children and expected to attain completely unrealistic goals, we are facing losing our jobs at any given time.

Would Teva be better than SA? I've been with them since 2000.

Okay, I may be in the CP minority but compared to my last company I very much like it at TN. It is what you make it! I have had good and bad years w bonus, but overall it has been very positive. Don't listen to all of the negativity on this board.

TN is like other pharma- your experience depends on your manager. There are plenty of terrible managers, but also several good ones. It depends on your geography. What general area of the country are you located?

Centocor rep here- JnJ -- same same

Just find a new drug co, hopefully one u can offer disease state exp and dr rels, and interview the best u can. U get at least a 50-50 chance on hire and with hire, an 80% chance of increase in base and total comp. Run with it if you have the chance for a couple years for the income bump. Critical to make and save dollar now b/c we all know jobs won't exist 24-48 months from now
