Marijuana vs alcohol head on.

Priss Matthews had his own brushes with Alcohol Abuse, and for him to characterize weed as more dangerous than it really is, well, the height of hypocrisy. A guy like him would actually benefit from weed, because he is a walking, TALKING piece of Anxiety.

I'm sure neither is as 'pure' as our 'natural state' but - the fact is, society needs/wants an escape substance - Alduous Huxley called it, 'Soma'.

For that purpose, this stands out:

Drinking too much alcohol can quickly kill a person. The inability to metabolize alcohol as quickly as it is consumed can lead to a buildup of alcohol in the brain that shuts down areas necessary for survival, such as those involved with heartbeat and respiration. "You can die binge-drinking five minutes after you've been exposed to alcohol. That isn't going to happen with marijuana," said Ruben Baler, a health scientist at the National Institute on Drug Abuse. "The impact of marijuana use is much subtler. Marijuana affects the cardiovascular system, increasing heart rate and blood pressure, but a person can't faally overdose on pot like they can with alcohol, Baler said.

For these reasons alone, I feel it more beneficial to make Marijuana legal and restrict alcohol more - even though I use more alcohol than Marijuana.

I use both responsibly - If I had to choose between the two, it would be Marijuana by far - The medical and recreational benefits have helped me greatly over the years. I have seen the devastation that alcohol can bring to friends families and co-workers.

I don't do either on an everyday basis. My go to was alcohol primarily because I was raised in that culture and it was easily attainable and socially acceptable to have a beer or cocktail after work. However, I think without question, it is the more dangerous of the two and unquestionably a gateway drug. Stopping for a beer or a drink after work is deeply imbedded in our culture. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

One thing for sure - after growing our first and learning to dry and cure it, it's one hell of a lot less expensive than alcohol.

"unquestionably a gateway drug" Really? A gateway to what? Pot?

Yes, thank you but I already know the definition of what a gateway drug is.(maybe you should use a search to learn what the definition of "irony" really is) But anyway, I'll ask once again, as I always have to with you, what is alcohol an "unquestionably a gateway drug" to?

When people slam Marijuana, they generally start by saying it is a gateway drug - meaning that people who end up on coke or heroin or some other hard drug 'started' getting used to altering their consciousness with pot. The counter claim to that is, 'they started getting used to altering their consciousness with alcohol'. Neither alcohol nor marijuana use mandates one ending up on hard drugs but if either was used by a hard drug abuser in the beginning, then they 'could' be considered a gateway drug. My point is, if marijuana is a gateway drug, so is alcohol. I suppose one could go straight to hard drugs without passing go and collecting their $200 but usually, the first conscious altering substance that most people use is alcohol.

The irony of the situation is - The super bowl is being played by teams from the 2 states that legalized pot. However, pot is illegal in the state where the game is being played.

If that's too much of a stretch for you - just remember, this is the playground not an English test that's being graded. Maybe you should loosen up a little.

When I could not even choke down soup, pot was the only thing that allowed me to eat, and I mean eat anything at all and keep it down. I had pills (yeah, joke there) and nothing worked. I would have died had pot not helped give me back my appetite. Other than that, I would use it a few times a week if it were legal to ease stress and anxiety.

It has helped me with migraine headaches and the recreational use has actually kept me from drinking too much or using other drugs. The gateway argument is a weak crutch that prohibitionists like to lean on - It is also their last stand and one that is on very shaky ground.
