What is a senior marketing executive responsible for? What's the pecking order in terms of the various sales positions at Labcorp. Salary etc..

SME's are front line physician office sales. Salary can range from 40's to 70's plus bonus. Bonus will depend on a number of factors but mainly influenced by what insurance contracts Labcorp has compared to other competing labs. I've seen good reps make little or nothing on their bonuses and worthless punk reps make close to $25k a month for a bonus. Oh, and if you do happen to score and make decent bonus numbers, you can bet some hillbilly back in Burlington will be plotting next year's commission plan to fix that!

"Pecking order"? Well, if you are a SME, then you probably think highly of yourself. Most others within Labcorp will not think as highly of you. Labcorp CEO has on multiple occasions expressed his distain for the sales force. If he had his way, every specimen would come to labcorp because of a contractual obligation and he could completely do away with the sales organization (is there a sales leader on his executive management team - no).

Keep in mind, the labcorps and quests of the clinical lab world are not highly regarded amongst their peers.

The main reason providers send to labcorp or quest is because they are "forced" to under managed care contracts. You would be hard pressed to find a doctor who chooses to send their work to LCA or Quest. Don't expect to be a welcomed and highly respected business confidant in the doctor's office.

I think poster #2 said it pretty well - if you have alternatives, explore them before stepping into one of these two piles of poop!
