Mammotome- Devicore Posistions

It looks as if there are a few openings for Mammotome and I may interview for one.

Does anyone have info on Devicor and the opportunity with Mammotome.

Would this be a good or bad opportunity now that it is owned by a smaller comany?

When Mammotome was part of JNJ, it was a rewarding job, but lacked innovation... Now, I company focused ONLY on the bottom line is in charge and the innovation is still 16-24 months away. It is a tough job market, but I would keep looking... Half of the management team has left, 1 Regional Mgr and they are down to about 45 reps out of 63 positions.... A lot of reps are looking and the morale is horrible... I learned a lot selling Mammotome and Neoprobe, however, I believe there will be intense pressure on everyone moving forward. Reps who have won many awards are looking for new sales positions... Ask the hiring manager to work with a rep for a couple of days and talk to doctors, techs, and admin to see what your territory would look like...

Good luck on your search..

I've been told its a 165k-195k opportunity and with Devicore and Tom Daulton running the show it will be great opportunity. I have an interview soon.

Is this accurate?

I don't have a crystal ball.....but my gut feeling is that you were given inaccurate information. Mammotome is losing share BIG TIME> Unless they have something new and different coming out....it's going to be a long rocky road!
Just remember, the hiring manager or recruiter is a salesperson like you! If they want you they are going to do what they can to sell you on the position.

I don't work for J&J/Devicor, but I work in the same industry and I can tell you that their reps are struggling just to keep existing business right now. Suros (Hologic) and SenoRx (now part of Bard) are both starting to kill on the conversion of Mammotome disposables. Ethicon used to have a good presence in stereotactic and ultrasound biopsy, but now the competitors have passed them in technology and customers are becoming aware of this. If nothing else, Suros and SenoRx are winning the MRI business 90% of the time which then gives them the chance to convert the other modalities to offer a complete solution to a hospital, oftentimes saving them $$ in the process. As a rep, they are so busy trying to salvage their existing business and save it from the inevitable conversion to Suros or SenoRx that they can't possibly grow their business. I know a couple of reps who were released and more reps who aren't really happy with the complete lack of product development and innovation. I would be shocked if they are making over $130k and they are doing "well" in their territories. Good luck.

The reality is nothing has changed (yet) from last year. The only difference is they (they meaning the comp committee) got it wrong. Reps simply aren't making any money. That is why people are looking to leave in mass exodus. Hologic and Senorx are not taking share like they would have you think...in fact it's not a ton of lost business, its just business is down. A lot of small centers that were around $50K accounts are now $10K...and those add up.

Years ago they would have admitted they (JNJ) got the forecast wrong, shifted targets down, and kept pushing forward. Now, it feels like an environment of failure and morale is destroyed. Having 90% of your sales force making just base is not a good direction for the company. Tom D. and KC may want us all out so they can start fresh. Who knows.

My advice to the reps is to hang in there and hope for a change, keep looking for new accounts to set yourself up for next year, and stay positive. There are products in the pipe...just gotta hang tight. There is still business out there to be had. Don't let the current pay plan hurt your ego. Your are mostly still all very solid reps, just stay up and get some new accounts, that's all we can really try to do. A great rep doesn't really care what the product is, he/she simply sells the product given.

Nothing wrong with keeping a resume ready...but start working like you lost a job and need one and you may find that spark you need.

Hologic may have some products, but they are really not that good. Just find a way to win!

Is the comp plan suppose to change for the better in 2011.

Seems like there may be a hope for some new products in the bag for 2011, any truth to this?

Is the new company coming down hard on cost cutting/ expense cutting?

Anyone know about the Texas market?

How much money have the reps lost this year?? When you expect to make $145K and you are only making your base salary of $75K, there is something wrong with this picture...

The previous comment is correct that the compensation plan didn't work for 2010. However, Tom Daulton and Devicor could have changed it to keep good, high performing reps (reps w/ a proven track record), but they haven't done that. They are going to see a lot of reps leave and maybe that is what they want... who knows...

Big (positive) changes are coming soon for Mammotome. I got a sneak peek of the new products. They are game changers!!!

Enough with the canned talking points from Camp Devicor. The only ones that get a sneak peek at the new products are the product development team and marketing team (or lack thereof), and officers. New products won't be available for 24 months, and they (the leadership team) said that 6 months ago!! The only game they are changing is the one they won't be playing in if it takes that long to get a new product launched, and a that doesn't include the long customer awaited "marker refresh' that was FUBARd last year...

The replies sound a LOT like the COMPANY LINE!!!! Target was $135 for most reps this year, but I don't know anyone earning that... The top reps are earning maybe $120K.... Waiting for next year's comp???? why??? there is NO plan to launch any new products in 2011!!!! Marker Refresh doesn't count!!!! Don't drink the Koolaid!!

You will not make $145-185K!!!!! TRUST me!!!!!

well they are recruiting pretty hard. I got a call from a recruiter recently.

with most recruiters saying the new company, Devicor, will be compensating new reps well and the target comp is 160k-200k.

Should I interview for this or is it a lie?

They also said great new products are on the leader and the existing product line is strong?

Any truth to that?

"Target"

ah yes, the "target" is there. It sounds fantastic. Problem is...no one is making "target".

Yes they are recrutiing hard. If you are umemployed yes get here now. It's a job and an opportunity. But if you are considering a grass is greener type leap...maybe sit on that one until the new products actually arrive. People are getting nervous the longer we go without solid tools to combat our missing of forecasts. There will not be a readjustment, and who knows what will happen next year. But currently, moral is at an all time low. So take from that what you will.

Don't worry about the management, most of them will be gone too within 12 months. Not that its there fault.

Yep, a DM got demoted to rep in Dallas. Anyone looking to interview is CRAZY... Top reps living off salary--and management is not paying the spiffs that were promised. A NITEMARE.. and no new products until late 2011 and they will probably be acquisitions...
