Lynelle, we need your help

I don't mind promoting our pipeline because I have some confidence in the fact that it's real and BMS can't tell Wall Street something that's not true, bad ju-ju come from that. However, lynelle you need to tell me why I should recruit somebody to come to BMS oncology only to have them get paid more than me and know that person will someday be in the same position when the next wave is hired in at a wage higher than theirs. The corporate culture here is to ignore those dedication and senior representatives and offer packages to newly recruited and hired representatives that far exceed what current reps get. Strange, the reps that have been here awhile are the ones that got us to our leading position, some more than once.

Lynelle, please find a way to answer this question, Email, voice mail, talk point , teleconference they all work. Another option is to just be honest and up front and tell us the practice will continue. Silence would be the cowards way to respond to this.

I'm sorry but we need to continue to offer more attractive compensation so as to attract the very best to promote our new assets. You are not an asset we care about.

You took your job at the salary offered, new people often get offered more. You were happy enough to take your job, if you no longer like the money, leave. Now stop whining and do the job we hired you to do.

Hey come to work for BMS oncology,
Do they pay better than the company I work for now? Well probably not
Do you have a better car than the one I'm driving now? Well probably not
Is the target bonus higher than the one I'm chasing now? Well probably not
Will I be able to sell and be responsible for goal attainment without being asked to meet some bare minimum metrics? Well probably not
Will I be respected by the management in your HQs ? Well probably not
Will I get a manager that I can stick with and develop a team type relationship for long term success? Well probably not
Is there an easily understandable IC plan that I can follow weekly to determine my standing for the top sales awards? Well probably not
Is your culture one that there is freedom to share ideas and offer other ways without fear of reprisal? Well probably not
Can I count on my manager to push back when I'm asked to do something that just doesn't make good senses in my area? Well probably not
Can I count on honesty from my manager, their manager and the one above that? Well probably not
Can I say no, I don't think that's appropriate? Well probably not
Will I ever get asked to sell off label? Well probably not directly but if you are don't record it

Ok, we'll I'll get back with you.

This strikes me as odd or at the very least inconsistent. It wasn't too many years ago that BMS had some of the best benefits and were best in class but Giavani said we had to be more competitive. Translation, we were paying and providing too much to our employees. Now Lynelle speaks of something much different. Wtf?

Jim Cornelius was a CFO at Lilly(penny pincher), he came here and cut expenses, you know things like the defined benefit plan, retiree health benefits, etc - you know- shit that doesn't matter. It's strange how some other Pharma companies have actually kept those things, because they really do matter to employees. Cornelius didn't and as Chairman of the BOD to this day care about employees.

Remember a fact about him that exhibits his true character. When he was asked by the BOD to become CEO after Dolan, despite the fact that Cornelius was worth at that time several hundred million dollars, he took a monthly " housing stipend" from BMS of $45,000 - A MONTH to rent a place in New York. Watch what they do, not what they say.
