Lunch budget

So, we’re asked to do lunches with our offices and we do because let’s face it, it’s the only way to see our customers anymore. We are working for a company that is doing very well as we are selling very expensive medications. One would think we could afford to bring in an appetizing lunch for our customers who are prescribing these very expensive medications for people who can’t afford them. Yet, we are restricted to bringing them food that is only good for a hangover (taco bell, Culver’s, fried chicken buffet) because we can’t go over $10 per person for lunch, which includes taxes and delivery?

$10 is a frick’n joke. Embarrassing what you get for that amount. I mean, I’m not talking surf and turf, but we are leaning to hotdogs from the 7 Eleven. They ought to ease up to at least $15.

Pharma reps are pathetic. You're a walking commercial that is complaining about the type of lunches that you can bring to your "customers." Companies consider you dispensable, and this is one of the reasons.

If you think pharma reps are pathetic, why are you trolling the pharma boards?? Nothing better to do, huh??

So you failed the personality assessment in the pre-employment screening? Don't beat yourself up... not all pharma companies require this....

the problem is that you can carefully plan for $10-12 pp, even with smaller portions, but when a few people don't show bc they are out sick, doctor and rn stuck at hospital, we somehow are at fault because we spent 10pp on some sandwiches.

No one is spending $25pp, it's a cap to give some breathing room. Say you bring food for a 10-person office, confirm with them, and then for whatever reason only 5pp are there. That $12 that you carefully budgeted for a $120 lunch all of a sudden is $20/pp for you and the other 5 ( 6ppl total), unless you are lying and forging headcounts. I've hit some near $25 levels a few times bc I refuse to do so.

im the opposite. I make up people all the time...have my caterer charge me for 20 people but bring food for 15...and then get 7% back on what I spend in visa gift cards. And I know plenty of people doing this...
