Can someone please clarify the status of our company?

I am so worried as I keep hearing about Abbott Labs preparing to downsize the entire company and will begin lay-offs as soon this coming Friday (tomorrow!).

Nobody in senior management will ever tell you how much shit you are in. Believe me - I have been there.

If you want a clue as to what's happening with your company . . . learn who's on your board of directors. They, along with the Executive Committee, all have a chunk of stock. when they buy or sell a chunk, it has to be reported. If you see a lot of selling activity, that's a clue.
 






Abbott is not the best company in my opinion because they do not hire the best people and they don't pay top dollar. If you want to be the best you have to hire the best. Look around: the companies who hire the best people are the best in the industry. Salaries are a good indication of who is the best too. The best companies pay the best and as a result get the best people.
