15 year vet here, and ready to leave the industry. I have had enough of "the game".

Curious to see what is out there for SALES jobs, inside and outside of this industry.

To give you an example of my frustration:

Today, I walked into an office, and counted about 5-6 reps in the waiting room, waiting for the doctor, yapping away, playing with their phones. So unprofessional, all of them. And, I don't care to network with those dorks. So, I left immediately to the next call, because I am in sales, not in the game of grabbing a signature and making the numbers on reach and frequency. I know my attitude about actually selling, and not grabbing signatures, is going to bite me in the rear someday. I still play the game, though, because that is what I have to do to keep my job.

Just sick and tired of it, and wanted to see what other sales vets are doing.

Please note, this message is for those that love to sell. I know the majority of you don't even like sales, and most of you are not even good at it. Instead, you just play the game, get the signatures, play along on the field rides, and collect your check with no ambition to actually better yourselves. Sorry to be harsh, but I have been in this game a long time, and most of you are quite unimpressive.

Here is reality:

You have been stuck in a sales position for the last 15 years because you weren't good enough to get promoted to a home office position or to a field manager role. You are so demotivated, you have trouble getting into offices before your competitors get there. Not only that, your fellow competitors make fun of you. Today, when entering a medical office, a few reps had already beat you to the call. They noticed that you were wearing an out of date suit and a haircut that looked like your blind mother cut it. Embarrassed by all the laughing, you immediately dashed out the door.

We agree........you have been in this game way to long and are quite unimpressive.

What a terrible response from a terrible person.

What is terrible is your post. You start off by calling other reps unprofessional and dorks and you don't even know them. That is terrible. Clearly, you were pissed off because they beat you to the call. You also revealed to all that you have been in in a sales job for 15 years (still doing the same kind of thing). That speaks volumes. You seem to be looking for someway to trash others in a round about way of making yourself feel better about your own short-comings.

You really need to be more concerned with yourself than others. The other reps are responsible for their careers.....you take care of your career. That's the bottom line.

All I read here is : BLA, BLA, BLA.

You need to get some more continuing education on not only business, but on how to be a human being.

Good luck with that, sparky!

You have been stuck in a sales job for 15 years while everyone else passes you by. Yes, we know who needs continuing education. Stop blaming everyone else for your own failure.

ah, good old sparky balls is back with his/her terrible advice, and terrible attitude.

One of the worst things to do in life is to take negative people seriously. This guy probably has a terrible work ethic as well, and complains all day because he wife doesn't put out either.
