Lindsay Rocco is Pathetic.

“While it is our practice not to comment on litigation, we believe this suit is baseless and without merit,” Lindsay Rocco, a spokeswoman for Dendreon, said in an e-mailed message.

Ummm Lindsay, just about every company who was ever sued made your stupid baseless comment. Enron said the same thing. You are a JOKE. There is not one thing mentioned in that short statement about what that lawsuit is about in that article that is untrue. You calling it baseless is simply baseless and disingenuous and DNDN knows it.

Re: Lindsay Rocco is Pathetic. Ken Lay proclaimed innocence even after verdict

Enron parties erupted among former employees in Houston as they celebrated the verdict.

"The jury sent an unmistakable message: You can't lie to shareholders. No matter how rich and powerful, you must play by the rules," prosecutor Sean Berkowitz said.

Afterward, still in the courtroom, Lay, who is the son of a preacher, and his weeping family members gathered in a circle, clasped hands and prayed.

Emerging from the courthouse, he declared, "I firmly believe I'm innocent of the charges against me. I believe that to this day."

"In the end, they were caught in a lie," said former federal prosecutor Robert Mintz. "What they knew about Enron's finances was different from what they told the investing public."

In the specific suit you are referring to, the plaintiff is suing on behalf of Dendreon Corporation to get Dr. Gold and other officers to pay back any illegal gains to the company. The shareholders own the company, so in essence the money is going back to shareholders. Shareholders have the right to do these kind of derivative suits when the company refuses to go after its officers and board members. From Lindsay's boilerplate response it seems like Dendreon won't go down that road because they probably think even nailing one of them implicates almost every one of them. Lindsay is just a mouthpiece from the top, so I wouldn't take it out on her but it seems Dr. Gold and a few others probably have a lot to worry about in addition to possible criminal charges.

Well Lindsay should have said "the company" believes. By saying "we" it makes it seems like she is part of that opinion even though she knows nothing about the details of the case. Clearly whoever opined wasn't going by the details of the case either to call it "baseless." It was the same boilerplate line that even Enron used and completely shameful that DNDN continues to lie. Should have stayed with the "no comment". Ultra despicable people there.

Dendreon today is saying Lindsay Rocco is joining the company. Was she a spokeswoman back in July for free? Was she being paid not as an employee to make such comments about legal matters she knows nothing about? If so, why did she say "we" believe? She doesn't believe anything about this legal matter. She said what she was told.

This company never ceases to amaze.

You make statements that you know nothing about on this board everyday. She worked for a PR firm and you are totally clueless as usual. Every post above above is from the same poster.

Exactly right she has PR experience. This may be a huge "tell". They have now officially hired a Corporate Communications Person and even added her to the executive team. That in itself is a major rarity to have a coprporate communications person in the executive suite.

Maybe she has made other comments in the past with respect to Dendreon. The only one, I have ever seen is this one back in July pertaining to legal matters, when she seemingly was employed by a company that wasn't Dendreon. As simple and boilerplate as her statement was, I think they wanted any legal statements to be made by someone with extensive experience in corporate communications and PR. I guess thats why Nicole didn't make the rather simple statement.

To me it seems they have added her to the executive team to have someone in place to spin and do damage control from an experienced PR person with regards to legal issues they may see coming down the pike. Spin obviously seems more credible when it comes from someone with an executive title.

The timing of this could possibly indicate Gold's and others tenures here may be coming to an end in the next few months and they are adding an experienced "spinmeister" for when and if that time comes.

You should see the outrage on IV. They are shocked in disbelief at what they think is a totally wasted hire and more usless expense in the form of salary and stock options. One person even equated it to a possible Paula Broadwell situation.

I completely disagree based on what I said in my post above this. The IV people aren't thinking deeply enough. Like I said above, Dendreon may very well be planning based on a very potential need for a PR/Spin/Damage Control person in the event some major damaging things occur in the next few months. Communications people just don't usually get executive compensation unless they plan to use her for spinning and PR which they say she has extensive experience in.

Again, the only communication I ever saw from her was when she was employed by another biotech and it was in regards to a derivative suit (legal matter) against Dendreon. Nicole pretty much did every other communication.

Either I am reaching or this is an important "tell". Time will tell.

One more sign that the leadership team is not interested in core business but only in covering their asses. Companies that are there are always near their end.

IMO this hire says it all and the strategy of denial has caused this. If in fact, people are going to be removed (because the company chose a denial strategy), they will need an experienced damage control person to spin it.

Keep in mind, her only previous comment was about a lawsuit. You can see she added a little spin to the comment that Nicole may not have. She said something like while they don't usually comment about these things, then went on to comment and incorrectly went on to say it had no merit. Just goes to show that these PR people know absolutely nothing about the subject matter. They are just paid to write and spin even when they know absolutely nothing about the subject matter.

It's funny that this online dictionary even used "Director of Communications" as an example

Noun 1. spinmeister - a public relations person who tries to forestall negative publicity by publicizing a favorable interpretation of the words or actions of a company or political party or famous person; "his title is Director of Communications but he is just a spin doctor"
spin doctor

I agree with them. This is not a full time position worthy of a salary of 100's of thousands plus stock options. I dont see how this is more than 10-15 hours a week of work. That is why you pay PR people on contract. In extreme cases you can hire them but making her an executive is ridiculous in my opinion. A company refusing to contain costs has made RR a very wealthy HR person.

I hope that the posts here are just from pathetic, not Dendreon employee losers as this is complete nonsense. This company needs focused employees not bashers and if any of these posters are employees they should be publically called out and let go.

A company like Dendreon needs the right person in this job. It is not a part-time Target/Wal-mart type of job and no it should not be done by an outside "PR service center".

This company is starting to form into the major, productive company envsioned by Mitch and he recognized that he was under-equipped to be the man to bring it to the level necessary to be in the upper eschelons of the industry.

Linsay is the right person at the right time. I appreaciate that she is with us.

The company did turn into what he envisioned. It became the pile of shit he knew it would as he sold his stock at every chance he could. If he envisioned anything other than the carcas he turned this company into he would not have sold 60M worth of stock.

That suit specifically refers to the cost density issue.
