Lilly Diabetes Hitting Rock Bottom

A news article in today's Wall Street Journal describes a new implantable insulin pump, and mentions pharmaceutical companies--Merck and others--that have winning oral meds for diabetes.

Sadly, Eli Lilly, a company that just a few years ago owned a "franchise" on diabetes care, was not mentioned even one time.

It's over. It's sad.

$igh. The only implantable pump we have is implanted up the arse of someone in bldg. 74. And it pumps CA$H. Out and Out.

Corporate bigwigs on the inside know that diabetes is not performing at the level they had hoped, but wanted to keep it quiet as possible to shore up stock prices & now this article hits the press & their whole cover is blown. Looks like not even diabetes reps are as safe as we thought.

Lilly Diabetes Hitting Rock Bottom? Lilly Diabetes hit rock bottom about 5 years ago. Lilly has been a joke in this market for a long time. All that they can do now is either hugely rebate Humalog to get an exclusive managed markets win at a profit loss or enter into a co-marketing agreement with another company that will fail within 2 years.

The issue with Lilly is simple: INNOVATION. There has been NONE for a long time now.

It is NOT Lilly any more. It is ELANCO. Pure and simple. Now milk those cows like I told ya. Make hay while the sun is shining. Early bird gets the worm.

Elanco/Diabetes themesong:

INDIANA!
Brand new disease state!
Brand new disease state!
Gonna treat jcl great!
Gonna give you barley, corn and pertaters!
Pasture fer the cattle, hawgs and termayters!
Uncontrolled Ha1c, on the prairie where the triglycerides zoom,
Plen'y of carbs and plen'y of room,
Plen'y of room to swing a rope!
Plen'y of heart attacks and plen'y of dope!
INDIANA!, where the meth comes sweepin' down from Plainfield,
And the fryin' meat can sure smell sweet
When the grease gets whipped up by the rain...

do your homework, slackers. Lilly is poised to have the best range of meds in the business and will be able to trump anyone when contracting. So, throw out false rumors wherever you want, Lilly's about to dominate diabetes again and the competition is starting to freak out.

Thanks for the pep talk John.

That was some good cool-aid. Can I have some more?

Good god. This isn’t even kool-aid. They’re flat out lies. Our revenue increases have been fueled by price increases for as long as I’ve been here (10 years). Recently came to DBU and the diabetes products and pipeline are a joke. Commodity insulins, 3rd to market add-ons and combos not viable at the payer level and contracting with a desperate co-promotion company, oh forgot about the generic basal that will sell itself.

top that off with management that is notoriously accredited in the industry for being the worst of the worst, lacking experience, integrity and not held accountable for their own juvenile misbehavior and well…lets just say, get your resume out!!!

The new insulin will have to be priced dirt cheap to compete with the insulin that we copied that is now generic. Hospital reps will be gone. Lilly is giving it to another company to promote who is already in the hospitals.

So much for first in class/best in class. We have resorted to stealing others formulations and duking it out in the courtroom. Nice.

I have 15 years of pharma sales experience, with about 4 years selling diabetes meds. Won 3 national awards. Recently applied to Lilly for a diabetes sales position....didn't even get a phone interview. Instead, I got a generic email stating that I "don't have the right match of skills required for the position". Really? What a pathetic company. They can't even send an email that just says "we've selected another candidate". Instead, they have to insult my intelligence. FU Eli Lilly!

Don't sweat it; Lilly usually only hires from the flock or those perceived as yes boys & girls.

Take it as a compliment.
