I have a friend that sells corrugated boxes and packaging in the shipping industry. He seems to really enjoy selling a tangible product to customers that want and need his product.

I think he makes anywhere from $60 to $90 K per year. This is actually less than I make right now, but I would not mind if the job satisfaction and the stability factor went up exponentially!

Lets face it people...What do we sell? Nothing. To sell something, you receive money in exchange for a product or item that you sell. Do we sell an item or a product or do we just "advise or educate" on what we have? Do we receive money in exchange for what we sell? Do we know how many we have sold? Do we exchange what we have sold for money?
All of us had better look elsewhere because "THEY" know we sell nothing and are just OVERPAID teachers. "They" know we are overpaid. "They" know they can get more for less. "They" know that our students (physicians) are tired of seeing us all of the time, teaching the same thing about the same thing. "They" know they make mucho $$$ on the products we represent and keep back most of the data so we do not get paid what we are generating...and then again, some are not generating at all. That is how balance is brought across the P&L sheets.
By the way, many of the students (physicians and staff) do not pay attention or learn and it is a waste of time and energy spent to teach. (Much like a teacher trying to teach those that do not want to learn)

As the previous poster stated, we should be looking in industries that give precise data on what we sell so we can professionally track our sales and income. Do not get me wrong. the money has been great! Where else can you get paid like this for being a customer service rep and caterer? NO WHERE and they know it. They are going to do alot more with alot less. Realistically, think about it. How important are you and can your job/cost be done with less cost involved.....Absolutely.
