Let's evaluate the leaders at Mallinckrodt

Mark T - As President and Chief Executive Officer at MALLINCKRODT, back in 2013 Mark made $11,040,789 in total compensation. Of this total $723,942 was received as a salary, $985,564 was received as a bonus, $4,931,881 was received in stock options, $4,315,055 was awarded as stock and $84,347 came from other types of compensation.
Mark T. is a horrible leader that does not engage in conversation with anyone at the company. He couldn't tell you anything about one of his employees versus the janitor of the building. His main objective is to make money for himself which is evident on his pay two years ago. Can anyone possibly comprehend what he makes now? Mark has no idea how to run a company nor does he know anything about the hospital selling environment. Mark's goal is to fool the world in terms of company profitability and sell. In some estimations, Mark exceeds 19 million a year in pay now and for what? So he can continue to take company paid holidays over to Dublin and elsewhere?
Mike M. - Mike was hired on as he was Mark T's buddy yet he has no social skills and about as genuine as a three headed dog. He and his wife continue to go on extravagant vacations that are beyond peoples imagination and yet does nothing here. Don't ever slip and say anything to MM as it will be your undoing. He is cold and calculating behind that fake exterior and was one of the masterminds behind the last layoff.
Jimmy Di Puppet - beware of Jim. He appears to be a concerned and thoughtful kitten, but in reality he is incredibly self-serving and only cares about his rise to the top and title. He is a master-mind of being kind to your face but in reality he will not defy upper management at all and doesn't want to make any waves. You will get the least far for him. He is filled with empty promises and would make a great politician because it sounds very sincere at the time but again it is self serving and nothing he promises come true. To date, none of his promises have become reality and he is always filled with hot air. The wors overindulgent, glutton, and liar come to mind.
Stacy C - Stacy is a cunning and ruthless B. She will stop at nothing to further her career and has been known for backstabbing quite a lot of people. Stacy has never been in sales in her entire career but knew what actions to take with the right men to float her career and power. Her biggest achievement to date was masterminding a promotion when her entire division was being let go. If most people would know the behind the scenes steps she took to make sure her position was guaranteed would make people nauseous. In fact Stacy had known about this for over two months. She became very quiet during this time as she was creating her pitch for a better opportunity that would actually give her a 30% salary raise all knowing this time that jobs and families would be adversely affected and people were actually buying new cars with hopes of the future from her.

The company is about financial engineering and getting numbers to look good. It's what the Board of Directors and Wall Street reward nowadays, as you've so nicely pointed out. Sadly, if you want a different culture, great people and leading research, you should seek employment elsewhere. These are the cards we are dealt right now. It's a job.

Wow I just saw this thread. Yes it is just a job, but we don't have to have the attitude "this is my fate.....so I guess I have to be miserable and deal with it". The story and opportunity has changed drastically and it's now time for all of us to quit.

Ask yourself this question. If you knew these people before you took this job, Would you have taken it? Absolutely not. If you happen to know some of these people prior, congratulations you now know their true colors and what they are capable of.

Would you have applied with for a position with Mallinckrodt? Absolutely not. It wouldn't have even been under the radar for most of us.

There are way better options and we all need to help each other out finding new jobs.

Would you like to see SC's performance reviews for the past two years? Must be someone's creative writing exercise gone wild. What positives could you put for her performance.

+I Reduced cost of sales force thereby increasing our profit margins, if the sales were flat?
+I Chased off best and highest paid reps, further reducing cost (and sales if you have a brain) and enabling others to win contests since the big guns were gone.
+ I gave the sales reps room to enjoy themselves by not attending parties and celebrations. This helped them bond and relax.
+ I had many conference calls to encourage and cheer on the reps. I utilized technology by pre-recording some of them so I could multi task.
+ I was careful not to get to know the highest performers, they were just sales reps, so they could spend time with the lesser reps and share their wisdom

It's all about spin.
When my position was eliminated, there were still many reps on board who had never sold enough to pay their own salary. (that was over a 5 year period) You can't make this up.

Good luck to those displaced. (All of them, and to those who will be, which is the rest)

MNK is a horse who makes the case for euthenasia or mercy killings.

There are good places to be out there. Seek and ye shall find.

LOL great post. It made me laugh. Jimmy Di Puppet is even worse than SC.

Have you ever seen MT speak? As inspiring as a guppy. But I need the job. And until there is something better there is no use rocking the boat.

MT could be the worst presenter ever. Lame and stiff. He really needs to learn to let others speak for him and stay behind the scenes. MM is simply a moron who tries to fit in and is about as bad as they come.

What about the guys that was a rep for 5 years, lab for 5, Mark's secretary and now GM Neuro. Is this leadership? The greedy at the top taking care of each other while the reps that actually sell get disrespected by placing people like this in charge of leading our business. How are we able to get behind a GM with this resume?
