Length of employment?

What is the time most reps stay in contract sales jobs? Its obvious from the pss reps most want a real job with real pay, but how long before they jump ship? Years, months or weeks? Big turnover seen.

I would like to know the answer to this question too. The recruiter said that there is a 96% retention rate.

The rep jobs work for the new grads for a year to get experience, then split. The other ones are the retirees who are financially set with pensions and social security. They'll work a long time because the money is not the drawback like it is for everyone else.

I was with publicis for about a year and a half before I left and found something better. Depends on the age. Older reps 40s/50s are staying there longer to ride it out. Younger ones are constantly looking for something better.

Ride what out? 40s-50's-60s are critical years toward retirement savings. Without the income to save you are screwed. Unless you had some big years in your 30s, the older years must be higher paid.

Why the dopey answer?

Many of these people came from high quality companies and will probably return to the same quality. Their stay here will probably be brief . They won't sell themselves short for long.....

If a client company wont roll these folks into a job at their standards it's their loss. Definitely dopey.

Some contracts are requiring much more than what reps initially signed up for like myself and reps in other territories. People are definitely leaving after all the extra things that are required to do thats not on the contract. Aside from just filling the gap on the resume, I dont see how anyone can survive long term on such crappy pay!

A lot of us would like to leave but we are pretty much unemployable elsewhere that is why we are at this dump. If you go to an interview and they see you worked for PSS they usually laugh at you when you leave the room.

For managers the pay is decent. For a rep its a different story. Reps with solid work history, advanced degrees and being at top companies is someone who will not stick around at a low level of salary for more than months. It would be impossible for a highly paid employee to drop more than 10-20% in salary for any length of time. Unless they're living in a very low cost part of the country it should not be expected. Do a good job and move on. Some do not even these jobs on the resume unless its a new hire to the field.

This is a big cause of exits....the hiring company will F'Up their own business by throwing all the extra work on the lowest paid. This is why people are exiting!

Who cares dummy? CSO reps were hired as disposable low rent throw away hacks. Who cares if they leave. Just get some more of the same from the thousands of other sample jockeys begging for this temp job. Get over yourself.

-Regards, your PSS recruiter

stockholders at the hiring company care. sounds more like managers without much experience to assign requirements to the wrong people. they will create their own loss of business.
