My boss tells me to put in 10 calls a day but during ride along I can only see 4-5 max. New to this industry. He tells me "hit your daily call goal" but we both know I can't see that many doctors a day. Afraid this is unethical? Should I report to my regional sales director? Don't want to get in trouble with the FDA. Feel pressured to lie from my boss about business with HCP's. HELP?!

no you can't do that you can only record calls you actually make.
Your DM can tell you that you need to make more but not to make up calls

That’s totally unethical and not the industry standard. Hang tight and see what happens this week before you report them . You may not have to worry about it anymore !

if you drive your company car to an office and make every effort to see the HCP and move call forward, that’s a call. You will not make it in this industry if you can’t read between lines. Calling hotline would be a major CLM.

Focus on folks important to the business and check your damn boxes or get a job where you clock in and out every day like a good slave

You should definitely rat him out you ungrateful scumbag. Be happy you have a job and worry less about being a righteous prick. Isn't this the same person that hired you? Now you want to get them in trouble? You're a douche.

Yes he is the one who hired me. But I didn't realize I was hired to lie. I don't want to get anyone in trouble. But it's obvious to me that when management asks me to input 10 calls per day and I can't make over 5 real calls a day there is a problem. I'm seeing very quickly that pharma is all about speaking out of both sides of your mouth. My integrity is not worth my salary. I will document what's happening. My team mates are telling me to "go along to get along" and I've documented them doing fake calls that our DM has approved of. They say "he doesn't care, he's cool." But the bottom line is, its lying. So for now I'm just catching videos during lunches to document the lies with my partners. Maybe you tube? Maybe FDA? I don't know, wish I never would have gotten into this. But when your manager tells you to "make it happen" with a wink its scary. Nobody gets away with anything any more. And I'm not gonna go down for unethical direction from management.

Being a shitty DM is not against any law.. the FDA has way bigger issues than your counterparts putting in fake detail only calls, i had a DM that did way worse than telling us ‘do what you have to do’ to make your calls. That person was reported.. what happened to them nothing.. why you ask??? Because all parties (DM & reps) got laid off and 2. No one gave a shit about their dumb ass complaint.

Bottom line stop being a baby. If you want your ‘integrity’ or whatever then get out of pharma (or any real career for that mattter). Because obviously you can’t cut it. I heard you don’t have to lie to flip burgers at BK .. there is a place you can be honest.. Burger King.

You are full of shit.

You are full of shit.
Why would you say he's full of shit? Sounds like every day I've ever worked. You sign a paper that says a call is a face to face interaction with an HCP with a close for the business. That happens maybe 3-5 times a day and then your DM says we got to have 10 calls a day to make call plan. Bottom line is DM's force reps to lie. What am I missing? Anybody thats been around longer than a year knows the game. Corporate makes us log 8-10 calls a day and we sell our souls for the salary and benefits. Pharma is a liars game. Period. What's funny to me is when management calls you on the whole charade. What value does a DM bring to the table really? If you are a self starter and know your stuff what good do they do you in the field? Save the stupid "motivational" emails and cut them. They never helped my business

How about this , you are a adult. If you can only make 5 calls put in 5 calls don’t put in 10 if you don’t feel right about it.
I think the point was management was telling him to "make" 10 calls a day. Same from all my previous managers. They know we can't make 8-10 real calls a day but that's the expectation. So we are forced to falsify documents
