Leadership killed Ilumya (and all of Sun US too)

Picture this:

A company fails to meet any of its goals for more than two years. During this time, turnover runs roughly 30%, recruiting is very difficult due to company reputation, and what was to be the largest product in the history of the company, is an epic failure, strategically, tactically, operationally.

The CEO and his wife make an insider trading settlement with India’s version of the SEC.

Independent agencies call for a forensic audit of the company as governance and compliance issues weigh heavily.

Product recalls mount due to manufacturing quality. Dilip’s PR advisors get behind ‘The Reluctant Billionaire’ in an effort to polish the image of Sun. It doesn’t work.

The US CEO rages at a POA meeting, showing his true colors. He has failed on all scorecards.

At the end of the day, the success or failure of Ilumya and the US Business is on his watch. Dilip’s little boy has failed badly and it’s almost impossible to extradite him out of here in one piece.

He’s lost face and needs to go.

However you want to position it Dilip, it’s fine. But just get it done.

We cannot move forward with him. Do you disagree ?

I agree almost 100% except I think turnover may unfortunately be higher.

The entire company starting with Dilip, AG , and other members of senior leadership and it’s epic biologic/Ilumya launch failure would be a great topic for any university business or ethics class. People outside of Sun ask what the hell is going on there? Why AG hasn’t been ousted is unbelievable.

Honest question? Is any of the leadership discussing this? What are the chances it will happen in the next few weeks? Are there any signs of anyone taking over greater responsibility. If you know anything let's talk. Every company has it struggles. With Sun, it is a few shitty people. If DS is convince that change is needed, he will take steps. His billions are riding on this company .

What other CEO would keep their job given business performance alone ?

The key question may be “what is it that AG has on Dilip that could keep him employed?”

It has to be significant.

I simply don’t believe Dilip’s loyalty is THAT strong.

DS has to be in deep on the insider trading thing (and or other things) and AG took the bullet for him. No way anyone would keep AG around except for his knowledge of where the skeletons are hidden (including those at Taro). And Taro just might be the thing that brings it all down. Lotta shady things done there.

This is interesting. Why are you talking about Taro here? That arm is dead for the last 5-7 years, meaning nothing happening at that end. They are just a seems generic arm for us on autopilot.

What shady things are you talking about that we never hear about. If there was something bad, we would have heard about it , right?

You must be borderline illiterate to not know.

But at the very highest level, Sun is the majority shareholder (~70%), and they put their own people in place there. Feds raided the place - You don’t remember ?
Dilip had placed Kal the CEO there then pulls him out of the US as the Feds come in. Abhay becomes CEO there ( Mr. Insider Trader), then he gets pulled out of the role as his investigation starts. The large cash transfers ??? The business is being bled on purpose.

Hello ???

Be civil here. Taro belongs to Sun to best of my knowledge for business purposes . Taro is on Suns financial sheet. Nothing new there.

What did the Feds do ? And what cash transfers? Sun paid themselves a special dividend last year. What is wrong with that ?

I just work here and want some change at the top. I don't know anything about how the management works but they are dumb for sure. Burning down everything they can find.

such a shame Ilumya is a great drug with 2nd rate data (non reflective of its real value) but a 4th rate team. Could have been great - but once Jester was fired and AG took over it’s been downhill ever since

Serious question
Where/how/when did things get off track - general comment about Sun.

Things went off track when the data from the studies showed lower scores versus everyone else. From there the HUB was established as the industries worst. Patients went without treatment and eventually went on other drugs.
Now
The HUB has improved but it is still lacking vs competition. The expectation is for the improvements to continue.
Docs and patients that try ILUMYA typically love it.
Payers are blocking coverage so new fills are getting much harder to get.
We have stiff competition that is well schooled in this industry and has already pushed well beyond our capabilities.
Ilumya is probably the lowest paying biologic launch pay to reps in the history of launches.
1/3 of reps have left for other opportunities.
1/2 of managers left
All of Senior Leadership left Sun, except the head.

The biggest question is what will happen now? TBD

IF I were a shareholder, and if I knew what’s happened at Sun, quite objectively, I’d demand that Abhay and Kyle be removed.
The list is too long to go thru, we all know the issues, yet neither of these guys has made any effective changes.
And IF I were either one of them, I couldn’t sleep at night, knowing that I’ve failed so miserably.

Get them out.

I’m betting the Ilumya team is minus 6 months until it’s over.

Look at how much Sun has invested getting into the US - from the Ranbaxy acquisition to the Ilumya royalties, it’s billions.

There’s no was we can continue to lose share in med Derm and flail/fail with Ilumya.

Something BIG has to give.

You can blame that failure on FRM management or lack of. There are more than enough investigations to meet goal. The FRM crew was at home eating twinkies. That is why sales and sales leadership left. From what I understand the latest bunch is more of the same. If you are going to point fingers look at those managers that continue to provide poor direction, guidance and strategy. Just an awful mess. I predict by April 1 another 59% of the Ilumya crew will be gone. Another 30% will be out on disability when the PIPs start flowing.
