After reading through these posts, it seems clear that people have many misconceptions about leadership, at least from my perspective. Because someone has an impressive title or an assigned leadership position, that doesn't mean they are a leader. Sometimes that's true. But titles don't have much value when it comes to leading. True leadership cannot be awarded, appointed or assigned. it comes only from influence, and that can't be mandated - it must be earned. So whether I have a RVP or VP title doesn't matter. What matters is whether I am increasing my level of influence in the organization through leadership. I've found at Miraca that hard work gains influence with my team - and even though I don't hold the title, I consider myself a leader.
