Layoffs

Looks like they wanted to keep the "best" around to shut down the primary care sales force. Those of us who were retained in this last layoff thought we were the lucky ones. Lol. The joke is on us...the belsomra sales and steglatro sales on my team don't even cover the cost of my RFM budget.

Not the best necessarily; the cheapest to the company. Also, look at how many Schering were kept this last time. Had they been let go, it would have cost the mother more to lay them off instead of Merck legacy to lay off. Truth.

I think it was an even split...there were some legacy Merck reps kept (me included) that make 120 and +.

Numbers are bab for Steglatro but I do not think they are as bad as Belsomra

I partied big time this weekend, have 6 Steg rx's ytd. I make 135k salary per year and figure I best start floating my resume. Chatter amongst higher ups stating unless you touch Keytruda you are screwed 4q. 75% headcount reduction in all field roles except Keytruda and women's health. I'm out why the job market is ripe. Hq cuts up to 50% 4q, company will look much different real soon.

You are wise to look for other work offerings. There is going to be major downsizing by years end. Stay smart.

As crazy as you may sound, I have heard similar rumors. At least we can get out very soon. October is what I heard for the next round.

Did you hear if we can raise our hands this time around? That might not be such a bad option. They may be afraid that too many people will take the golden handshake and have to scramble to find replacements.

Yes things are a brewing, I'm seeing PP all over the country. For you newbies, PP is a tactic used ahead of mass layoffs whereby people call in favors, PP is preferred placement. This comes in many forms: shuffling staff into safer areas, holding vacancies to "game" ZS mapping and my all time favorite, creating bogus fluff jobs like field account managers. If you see this in your area it is a sure sign the shit is going to hit the fan, AGAIN. It's lights out this fall with no place to scurry, this is the final act.

Nexplanon is now one of our top key growth drivers along with Keytruda. Who would have thought 5 years ago that this tiny little match stick would be so important to this company?

I had a field visit with my CTL who has alot of connections in headquarters, and he told me that they are already moving peoples bag assignments around to see what products and territories are viable (there are still more Merck reps in the field than any other company). They are anticipating more cuts by Q4 but no mention of handraising. If i had to guess, they would probably limit it this time because most people would love the golden handshake after the last two launches. Put your name in the hat, but you may not be picked kind of deal. If you are not in Oncology, you should always be looking for another job.
