Layoffs in R&D Rochester

The bulk of what remains in Rochester R&D is not pharma, so I find it hard to see how buying a GI pharma company would affect vision care.
But that is just my opinion.
Honestly, with how small Salix's (employee) footprint is, I would be surprised if there is anyone left in North Carolina at the end of 2015. Any Salix employees who work at headquarters (non-sales) will likely be Let go (the majority) or sent to NJ or Rochester.
 



As per last message, get out and get out fast. worst company to work for in Pharma...
Valeant destroyed B+L, they will do the same to Salix, whatever role you are in....and they really dont care about anyone except their own wallets...
 



The Vision Care people in Rochester are probably OK. If you are one of the few remaining people in Rochester that are in Pharma you may have to move to one of the many centers for Pharma Excellence sites that will be created after this merger.

How many people are there that work in Pharma in Rochester??

Salix has a pretty competent pharmacology group. They probably will avoid trying to manage all of the small pharma groups at all the various locations throughout Valeant as it would be just way too difficult to manage it all. So many file cabinets, FDA submissions, people problems etc.

If Pharma does not consolidate into one facility forget it.
 



Valeant does not really save money by centralizing functions. They save money by cutting the number of people down to the bone and then having the remaining people do five times the amount of work.

Pharma in Rochester is kind of an oxymoron. However if there are one or two Pharma people needed in Rochester to do Pharma, Valeant will keep them and work them to death.
