Last Las Vegas Pow Wow

Absolutely dreading this trip. Novo, how about you treat us like seasoned adults and git rid of the much-hated role play. Have some seminars, lectures, R&D talks, team events and maybe a bit of work-shopping. How about we spend a full day on all of the new software systems that were just thrown at us? I don't mind going to Vegas but there is just no reason for this.

All I can say is the 2025 strategy knocked it out of the park!!! The detail and strategic focus of Built to Win is undeniable!!! Lilly doesn’t know what’s coming!! Let’s put those Harris campaign consultants to work again!

Here’s an idea: why don’t you just do the fucking job you’re being paid to do. If that means role play, then go role play. Otherwise, quit taking the paycheck. If you’re ready to write your own job description, go start your own company, dumbass.

For starters it wasn’t entirely bad. What surprised me was the company had months to plan and that was the best they came up with. I remain engaged and wanted to learn yet I left feeling I didn’t learn much of anything other than how scaled down and watered down everything felt. Everything felt watered down, from the food, to the training and the lack of energy. Why spend 90 minutes role playing? I appreciate when a table lead takes control of the conversation and has the table work through the problem and create better dialogue than just word salads. Our training department is stuck in the early 2000’s and I am surprised we didn’t role play in lines. I think POA’s are important and it’s time we redesign and redefine what they look like. Until then I don’t foresee the usual bump in numbers. Vegas was old and tired and it’s and it’s disappointing that we spent the money we did just to walk away from something grey and tired. I really hope this isn’t what’s to come because I love my job and I love it here.

The role play is hated because you suck at it. I just spent all week listening to people making $150k+ who couldn’t verbalize the very basics of our clinical data. Every performance based job in the world involves practice. Can it sound forced and clunky at times? Sure. But there’s a reason we do it - so many of you are awful at it.

You all should be grateful you get paid so much for doing little to no work. Reps and managers. Count yourselves lucky and stfu

Yes, now we have all those ex-cardiovascular to help us sell diabetes & obesity meds. Great plan

Shout out to this post
Been in pharma marketing for 20 years and you’re right- POAs need to change big time, and yes there’s role playing for a reason. It’s because reps don’t know their data, and how it should be presented. This results in lower sales impact and higher compliance risk.
And that’s why you’ll go to Vegas every time.

Smaller meetings would be much more effective but we in home office don’t want to travel and repeat ourselves 15 times.
But the whole concept of how to execute the objective of a POA should be stripped down and redone.

The classless trash is back. Obviously you are oblivious to what’s going on. Role play should be done at initial training. We detail at least 10x a day. We need answers to system changes and legitimate objections. Tell us the updates and let us go sell. BTW, the role play they demonstrate on the videos is them reading directly from a monitor.
