Laser Pharmaceuticals

I have a 2nd interview w them in may..

whats the real scoop in selling generics? Is it even worth it to get into?
Will I make any $? I have to COMPLETELY set up the territory if i take it. told there is NO customer list to go from yet......

any sugg etc?

DO NOT WORK FOR THIS company!!! You will not make any money!! I started with them when they were Palmetto pharmaceuticals. The owner and his wife are great people- but yes you are selling generics that have been reformulated and by the time the doctor starts to write your product - they change the name and reformulate it again!
Commission only- or working on a draw- commissions were terrible!
I also started my own HUGE territory- they give you 4 pages of zip codes and that is it. No computer no target list NOTHING, no expences, no internet NOTHING!! You are responsible for finding your own targets and developing your own routing. Which is not that hard- but your commission ranges from.25 to maybe a $1 per script- do the math - you need to sell A LOT of cough syrup to make any money. NOt to mention that when I did sell I sold $30000 in February, $40000 in March- then they ran out of product- in the middle of cough and cold season- which came late and doesnt last long!! and were not making more because of summer- so I had lots of scripts go unfilled and lots of calls from docs- not a good thing.
I had run into the rep that had worked for laser when the merger happened and he said that he wasnt making any money- nguess what- he is no longer there.
Manager in the south- David B- sucks- he cant be reached after 3pm- doesnt return calls or emails- absolutely no support if you need it.
They were on paper for signatures- the rep in GA would sign for the doc so he wouldnt have to wait and would even post date cards to have long weekends.
It was definately a learing experience- so if you take the job- go in knowing that and use it to get to your next GREAT job!!Good luck!

You are so right with your assessment of Laser… Management/ownership is an utter joke and I only stayed in sales with them for a few months as a result. Only because David B. is attached at the hip of the owner is he able to keep his job. Same thing with their development guy. If anybody is thinking about working for this company, you need to consider other options. You will be sorely disappointed if you go to work for them.
