What's going on with the ridiculously inept group of primary care DMs in Chicago area ? Have been in sales a long time and they had to be a case study somewhere in how to screw up teams and underperform. Are they all still in place? If that geography is a representation of the national DM group/promotion criteria, no wonder so many people in the org. are miserable.
 




OMG... priceless humor watching them. Very close to watching the three stooges. The sad part is AZ would put them in charge of good people and have responsibility for sales/results.
 




Don't know who the DM's are you are referring to, but it is a perfect example of what is helping kill AZ's sales and morale. Hundreds/thousands of complaints about AZ's management have aired the last couple of years on CP. Reps are afraid to complain because they know HR will hang them. So what happens? Morale goes to a negative factor, no one is engaged in the task at hand, sales drop, more pressure, and so on. AZ refuses to change the "role" of a DM. They are babysitters for the most part. Some are very good people, but the "role", as it exists today, is obsolete

From all we can see and read and hear, it appears that 2011 it will only get worse. The events of the last couple of weeks will assure more misery.

It's up to you to change the course of your life. Start doing it TODAY.
 




Agreed. The role of the DM is outdated and not needed. Professional babysitters is all they are and most can't even do that! They add NOTHING to the sales process and eat into the bottom line. With all the experienced reps out there now there is no need to have more than a regional manager who rides once or twice a year and reviews expense reports. Why can't pharma companies see this huge waste going to DMs who are nothing more that middle layers of fat? I don't get it. DMs are a waste...bottom line...reps are graded on their results whether or not they they have a DM.

Agreed - a RSM can approve expense reports and field ride. Just rate PSS on #s. After all, scorecard has 2 other buckets for the tedious task of taking up time to fill in the blanks already available on the DSM dashboard!! Repetitive - repetitive. Why do we have DSMs?

Agree on what is the purpose of the DSM other than approving expense reports. Agree, reps could have a field ride with the current RSD position. Most of the reps are able to work independently and if rep not doing job can;t hide for long. Just think of all the monies that could be saved from eliminating the DSM. It would be a positive start if cuts are going to have to be made. I have never understood why reps are rated every time we have a field visit, at meetings etc. and we have ONE time during year to get a global survey and rate management. Not much comes of it either. It's all about numbers anyway, regardless of who DSM is and back to really, what do they do.
 




You are totally wrong. Numbers have nothing to do with it. Everything at AZ is totally subjective. If a manager feels threatened by you, or they feel the need to try to make themselves look good in their RSD's eyes, they will make up things, twist situations, lie, and build a case against a rep. ( sound familiar GM, u AH) Ha Ha ha, Numbers are not important
 




Leadership: You question what is wrong with the field? Implement a 360* review on each of your management leaders. Only then will you get true insight into things that are wrong and what changes need to be made to make things better. Do the right thing by your people!
The emperor is wearing no clothes right now! Is it his subjects (PSS) fault? Everything is...no accountability from Brand mistake or Management mistakes. After all the PSS is the most disposable even though their #s are manipulated and objectives are really subjective. Sad downward swirl.

There was an article on this in USA TODAY yesterday. Best way to handle a psycho boss is to try and find a way out.
 








Anybody know what's up with the MCL, DM group in Chicago? I'd be surprised if they're all still in those roles.

They're all totally incompetent but still in the roles because the company can't find people desperate enough to want them if the positions became vacant. My understanding is most people at AZ don't think of DM role as a promotion and run from it.

Still a joke. You're right...it is funny to watch them only because don't have to report to them. It's miserable for the teams listening to people who have no business sense at all and simply regurgitating, playing the corporate minb-numbing robot game. Good Luck!

They'll really be funny now as they prepare for upcoming review. Hiding in their offices like trolls trying to put together life-saving lies for performance. Probably be some knee-jerk responses putting extra pressure on PSSs over next couple weeks too. What a joke !
