LabCorp Telemarketing Reps

What's going on with these telemarketing reps? Client called me Friday saying some uneducated LabCorp telemarketer was pestering their office. Apparently, she was claiming to be their "internal account specialist." Specialist? Go get a degree or at least your GED before you call my clients.

Why did you call this position a “telemarketer” when you learned it was an Internal Account Specialist? You do know there is a difference? A part of the belittling?

Actually, I’m offended that you didn’t defend the dignity of this person (Internal Account Specialist) and yourself-by way of the company you represent. My apologies if you did, but your post suggests otherwise.

I’m also surprised that no one kept you appraised of how your client was being serviced and/or upsold. If you call them “your clients” then you seem to be pretty far removed to be putting much effort into this relationship.

Labcorp (in the past; I don’t know what they do now) will assign internal service reps to those accounts that are too small for a KAE or sales visit. If this IS the case, then you have a very small, insurance-mandated client-probably still upset from having to send the 1-2 specimens a week to yet another additional lab-who is now berating a member of your sales team, an employee of your company … and what was your response?

Or, it could be a very large account requiring some additional inside support for the KAE (or whatever the title). If so, then again, way to be on top of it Ace!

My guess is this: You’re a bloated SME (or other specialty rep) who sold this account two years ago; an account that you had quickly abandoned and therefore serviced, almost from day 1, by a KAE and now the additional IAS.

Also guessing the client itself is bloated. A client who has little tolerance for other non-bloated people, let alone those of whom he/she is mandated to interact.

Yeah, yeah … I get it. Labcorp sucks. The truth is, most of Lacorp does suck, but why let it turn you into some asshole who would aids and abets some other asshole in the bullying and belittling of another fellow human who’s just trying to make a living? Again, my apologies if in fact Labcorp did not have this effect on you, and are an asshole regardless.

If you want to spend your days dealing with small accounts, not having time to deal with the larger accounts, by all means tell your RMBD to unassign the IAS rep in your region. We'll see if you begin to appreciate them then. Not to mention, you can field your own calls from dentists, orthodontists, and chiropractors. I am sure your IAS would thank you for it.

The "Telemarketing Rep" that called is most likely a KAE that inadvertently called one of your clients. KAE's in my region are indeed glorified "Telemarketing Reps," that's what a client visit is, then I stamp it on my call report. #twojobs #doubledip #easymoney

Wow. Be happy you have an internal account specialist to help you with your small clients and who can handle paperwork and phone calls about needing more supplies for you. If you don't want them calling certain clients for you, pick up the phone and call them. They wont mind handing a few of their 2000 clients over to you. But don't share your poor attitude with them, unless you want to be handling all of your little clients. You are looking a gift horse in the mouth man. Work with them. It will work out well for you.
