Lab closing in Kansas City

Are the rumors true. My customers are saying this will effect TAT.
You must be outside of Labcorp. The KC lab closure was announced months ago and because of the number of people involved, fell under the WARN requirements. As for client notification, most clients were notified through Labcorp. However, the message was to improve service. Knowing where the specimens are going to, an improvement in service is not likely. Theoretically, TAT would not be impacted, but the receiving laboratories are notorious for a high number of lab accidents, lost specimens, and non-existent customer service.

In case you haven't heard the details, testing in KC will be transitioned starting June 24.

This is yet another example of backward management decisions at Labcorp. Somehow, they justify closing a 17,000+ accession facility, with one of the highest FTE productivities, highest EBITDA, highest customer satisfaction scores, and on and on; just to feed sub-standard facilities in Dallas and Denver.

For those lab organizations maintaining a presence in the KC market, opportunity abounds. The Quest reps are doing exactly what they should be doing - capitalizing on LabCorp's strategic blunder.
