Jumping through hoops

It feels like there are lots of hoops to jump through for this job opportunity. I know I don't like the structure of the questions that are being asked, the times that I'm being contacted (late evening), and having to actually travel to go interview (what happened to being "enticed" and "recruited"?....c'mon woo me.)

I'm in a situation where I have a decent product and a good manager. Many of you would agree that this is 80% of a good gig these days.

There is risk with this company. Will the drug actually make it to market? A 30 day head-start means nothing. Sanofi is one of the worst organizations to deal with besides Pfizer. The market is easily treated with generics even using a multi-modal approach. Nobody knows how low is too low in terms of LDL-C. Will there be neuro-cognitive consequences? (there are cardiologists that believe so!)

For those of you that have already accepted your offers I can see why you are having second thoughts. Nobody wants to be a part of a dog show and there seems to be a substantial amount of hoops to jump through.

Best wishes to those that are on board.

I jumped through the hoops made it to Dallas and didn't get the job and couldn't not be happier that I didn't get picked. Of course I was initially disappointed but looking back I wish I had never gotten called in the first place. Good luck to everyone but just wasn't a good fit for me and I am sure the manager felt that at the interview, I know I felt it!

I was contacted last Friday around 4PM to be in Dallas Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of this past week. Seriously?? Also to have to prepare for the presentation in that short of a time frame. Just crazy. Didn't accept the offer to go to Dallas. Absolutely no regrets.

Welcome to the new world order of hiring in corporate America. You education and professional accomplishments don't count for anything, I guess. What a joke. Companies that require a presentation to get hired, are an absolute joke and unprofessional, with the only exception being very high end sales jobs that pay 150k plus base salaries, which is about 1% of all OUTSIDE sales jobs, I am not talking about managerial jobs for people that MANAGE, and haven't sold in years, because most of them can't sell and know it, so they go to the path of management.

You said it! I have personally met 2 managers and know one more. They are terrible and the one I personally know, was a horrible rep. If you can't produce as a sales rep, how the hell are these people promoted to managers? Such a farce. Then they are supposed to tell other reps what to do. Joke.
I personally wish I would have stayed with my old company then coming over to this shit storm. The launch will be terrible.

Heaven forbid you be a sales rep and have to give a presentation during an interview! Come on people, are you THAT spoiled and entitled!? If you're good at what you do, that shouldn't be an issue!

Well said! So true. A buddy just got a good position with a tech company. He had a simulation that he had to prepare and present around. Get over yourself you spoiled tards.
