Joe Cocker - R.I.P

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-30582761

He was a great singer and performer - One of the most recognizable voices in the history of rock music. Had the chance to see him perform live a few years ago - He put on an amazing show.

Amazing singer, ripped off big time by his managers in the late 60s, I'm amazed he lived this long but glad he got straightened out and enjoyed the last years of his life.

As a true child of the 60's I was fortunate to have seen Joe Cocker at Woodstock in August of '69. I have been back to the farm several times as our Boy Scout camp is a few minutes from Livingston Manor which is off Rt 17 in NY. The monument and perfect venue for a rock performance is a great tribute and should have been the rock museum site. I don't claim to remember much of it but i'm sure it was great.

That was a real nice tribute to the 60's thanks. They say if you remember the 60's or Woodstock you were not really there. Fond memories of Peace Pot and Promiscuity are a haze but I remember 1971 in Vietnam with crystal clarity.

Pot and promiscuity are still here with 2 changes: It's now legal pot and planned promiscuity. And Viet Nam is a vacation paradise. What a waste of the lives of American boys. It's still getting us from behind. I just lost a dear friend from lymphoma attributed to Agent Orange while he was there. Glad you made it back Leo.

Leo, that was a very interesting time of the War, as everyone knew we were trying to get out. Just curious, could you contrast the reaction to C.O's, that were gung ho, versus those that wanted to protect their Men? Were you and your Brothers doing some serious drugs, as we have been led to believe?

Interesting point - war is business to so many. War is money to so many to so many who pull the strings (can we spell ex VP?). I wasn't there but I could have been and knew several who came back addicted to heroin. Also understand they had excellent pot. I know you don't like CNN but they're running an interesting mini series called 'the 60s' right now. We tape it, watch it when we're bored with Swing. The last one was about the Viet Nam era and the person who produced the show contended had Kennedy not been shot, we never would have gone in.
