Job opportunity- Prescription Drug Monitoring AE

I’m guessing from reading the posts that the majority of people working here aren’t happy. I’m fully expecting sarcastic replies but I figure I’ll ask anyway since I was contacted for a position. What are realistic total compensation figures? Are there any redeeming qualities about working here? Thanks.

you are correct. There will be a lot of silly responses. Fact is.....stay away. Working for Quest is not fun. Micro management at its finest. If you have any selling talent go somewhere else unless it’s LabCorp. They are terrible in their own way.

I left Quest sometime ago. I have friends that are still there and friends that have been there for years. Quest IS big pharma. There is call plans, micromanagement, and comp plans that constantly change. Even after a quarter has ended, they will tell you that PDM reimbursement was better than they expected and the rankings were inflated and that your check will be "adjusted down" to account for that. There's other stuff, but you get the picture. Your life will be Quest. It was common for my manager to call me 6:15pm on a friday and then yell at me on monday for not answering.

The culture is terrible. I left early last year and even though no job is a utopia, Quest is the worst place I’ve ever seen PERIOD. The jobs are thankless and even loyal middle-management gets thrown under the bus. It’s a place where a bunch of flunkies are trying to outflunky each other.

I have truly never worked in a more hollow culture with so much human debris. Stay away. PDM is volatile and may sunset at any time

thanks a bunch to the three of you for your responses! Always looking to leave pharma and I’m not afraid of hard work. However, not leaving to work harder and make less money. Seriously, thanks for the responses.

Stay in pharma and go specialized. Otherwise go into healthcare consulting or device if you want to stay in medicine. No way would I come to diagnostics and definitely not Quest. Recruiters are sour on QD reps and you can get a better sales skill set in many other places. Many many people come to QD because they have nowhere to go ( a lot of big pharma types ) and you don’t want to join ranks with a bunch of mollycoddled primadonnas that have no value.

salary - 75K
commissions - 40K
a ton of competitors
quest dx a slightly better co. than labcorp, but much more micro-managing
they do have the managed care contracts. some competitors are no longer setting up our of network accounts

Mirco managed is an understatement... you aren’t even allowed to submit your expense report during working hours...even though you have the app on your phone and can do it while waiting in an office. They actually have the time to monitor that. Very untrusting company culture.

Micro manage is an understatement. You aren’t even allowed to submit your expense report during working hours, even though there is an app on your phone and you can easily do this while waiting in an office. The sad part is, management actually has the time to monitor this.. it’s the most disrespectful company they have no trust for their employees. Terrible company culture.

Stay in Pharma or sell device.. they don’t give you the opportunity to sell because you are bogged down with ridiculous metrics.
