Job hopper? Really??

In this economy.. Why do they care if your company dissolved .etc.. I just had IV., gave me a hard time about one company bought out( really? It's very well known.. ) then I got so so job.. Have to feed family.. Quit that 6 months later to take higher paying much better job.. They are now closing my division ( no one can say performance here) do noe I an stuck looking for new job/ many awards and recognitions... And I was told I am a job hopper? Like I chose this to happen? One I did " hip" to a 8k raise.. Car as opposed to allowance, etc .. Only to get laid off. Are they just trying to find an excuse? I interview well, have great reference letters from past DM.. Cannot control economy.. Just took a new " right now "job( must eat) but of course want better job.. When they ask" how do we k or you won't leave... Welll.. I want x amount ..x benes and vacay.. Any suggestions? It do they just search for a reason to say no? I have done great.. Just bad luck last 2 years....

You need to take a step back and stop being so defensive. Your reasons for doing what you did makes a lot of sense. BUT, from the perspective of a recruiter, talent evaluator etc. you've had several jobs in quick succession good economy or bad. This sets you up for a quick judgement call by them since on average no more than 30 seconds is spent initially looking at a resume. You may need to consult with a career specialist about what you to put on your resume.

ALL contract reps are judged by recruiters and all the major companies. That is why the ONLY jobs cso reps can get are other cso jobs THROUGH cso recruiters. We are a marked bunch. This blows
 






I agree with original post and "job hopping" should not be discussed per economy and pharmaceuticals has laid off 75% of everyone and realigned. Since 2008 everyone has been effected. Everyone is trying their damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn best to stay inside.
 






Op. If I leave off job ( which I have) then question is " why we're you unemployed so long? I quit a pharma job ( good reason) great letter from that DM as I won alot of awards. If they do background check and omit, then they can fire you for omission . It's a double edged sword. Poster #2.. I am not drinking but I could use one!:)
 












The easy way to answer this is to have zero gaps in terms of employment. Got downsized?? If you cant get a filler job right away, make one up. "Joe's lawn service", etc etc., which shows your work ethic and strong desire to stay in the workforce despite being downsized in the industry...as someone who has done the interviews, this goes a long way towards resting concerns about employment gaps.
 






I appreciate response about "John's Lawn Service." However... that is the problem.. I do have jobs to make up that gap and that has been the factor in the 'job hopper" labeling. That is where double edged sword comes in. Gap... what's wrong.. add jobs in... I am a hopper... It was recommended to me from recruiters to leave off 6 month jobs... the consensus.. I do that and got "why were you not working" then I added them back in and was a job hopper. I moved and resigned from a job.. then economy tanked and here I am. I have been at a top 5 pharma since and the division I was in was bought out. I got a medical sales disposable job.. they are now under. Nothing to do with me. It is really a challenge. good responses.

This is where idiot corporate interviewers like to toss around corporate speak terms to make themselves feel effective.. gee you changed jobs = job hopper, hadn't worked in POD recently= not team player, etc... too many interviewers can't think as an average human and look at individual
