Job Acceptance Related...Any chances the FDA rejects the additional label?

I’m really excited about possibly selling a game changing product such as Vascepa. However, I would be leaving a job without a guarantee that my position at Amarin would last longer than just a few weeks should an FDA denial occur. Please advise.

thats a legitimate concern. But...I’d put the odds of approval at 90%. Previous poster mentioned buyout threat. That’s a real possibility...if expanded label occurs. In the event of a buyout...that company will need reps as well so that mitigates risk of being laid off. But there would be some cuts. In any massive expansion there is always a risk they expanded too much and therefore a subsequent reorganization a few years from now. If this is your first pharma job go for it.

Hmmm....buyout sounds just about right. The managers know more than what they are saying. Sounds like this poster is a mgr!

Amarin was granted a “fast track” approval by the FDA. So I would think it’ll be approved.
Pharma is a gamble now a days regarding mergers, buyouts and layoffs. If you don’t have the stomach for it, find a new industry.

Of course there is possibility of a denial.but I dont see it happening. Very low percentage of that. Buyout is becoming less likely in my opinion. Would've happened by now. If big pharma offers the right price, obviously those making the decision will listen. Chances are if they are waiting for fda approval, then the cost of our company will go through the roof. No one has offered enough at this juncture, they wont offer enough in the future. I think a partnership is more likely. Also the sales ramp up is not too much at this point. We are still very small and the potential of this company is quite large. You could argue that we should have around 1500 to fully capitalize on this market.

Co-promote is the most likely outcome in my opinion if things progress. Ideally with a company that already has a CV portfolio.

Why would Big Pharma with thousands of reps with soon to be off patent drugs bring us over?

For those of you that are new, this is a public company. They answer to stockholders. Good luck with this one. If you ever got bought out by big pharma, they have their own reps, you can say goodbye.
