Jensen - The catalyst to Onyx's demise

Jensen for months has been pushing to Rolf Hoffman that they should fold Onyx into Amgen. He has made Bob Azelby, Richard Paulson, and Jeff Ludwig scared they will lose their jobs if 1.) Existing Neupogen/Neulasta revenue declines beyond expected BAI forecast. Remember, Jensen influences BAI forecasting assumptions so he controls the standard they will be accountable to. 2.) If Onyx Kyprolis launch goes well, Azelby, Paulson, and Ludwig will be perceived as under achievers and replaceable. Why does Jensen scare them? To force their hand in support to Rolf that Onyx needs to be folded into Amgen. He uses AFP cost cutting as another key trigger. Over the next few months, Jensen is successful in pushing Rolf to convince BB and TH for this plan. He helps his cause by keeping Onyx understaffed and promoting the image that they are unable to retain key talent. Jensen goes to great lengths to destroy Onyx independence for his own career gain.

Currently, Jensen is only a director under Rolf. Now that he has his way, he is looking to become an Executive Director and brand lead for Kyprolis. He wants to get rid of as many Onyx commercial leaders so he can control 100% of the brand team, people who are loyal to him. Those that are still given jobs and choose to stay and come to TO will find that they will not succeed because Jensen will undermine them and set them up for failure so that they leave. Jensen is looking to get the credit for successful Kyprolis label expansion and knows he will have that support by ensuring Azelby, Paulson and Ludwig support since their future will be tied to his. In short, Jensen sped up the Onyx integration to benefit his career by getting rid of as many people at Onyx so that he claim credit as the lead for the next $1.5B-$2.0B Kyprolis launch. Any Onyx employee taking an Amgen offer to relocate to TO better make friends with Jensen fast or he will set you for failure and to be fired.

What demise? We made millions and then you kept us on for 18 months and paid us retention bonuses. It was always going to come to an end. That is and always was the plan when we joined Onyx 10 years ago. I'm shocked it lasted this long since the buyout, but I'm happy it did as we got to spend an additional year and a half with a lot of the great people at Onyx. All while having a front row seat to see exactly why Amgen is the laughing stock of the industry and why they cannot attract top talent, having to settle for big Pharma hacks.
