I think people that ruin other people's lives like this kid did should be put down like a wild animal. This degenerate is a pathetic psychopath. I can't begin to imagine what the people who have been put through this are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

All of the above are too easy for him. After the liberals give up protecting him based on some early life hardship, send him to general population of a (or multiple) hard core max security prison(s), labeled clearly as a "child killer."

While I fully support the death penalty, when there is likely mental illness in place, and not mental illness as an excuse, I think we have to try a different approach. I don't think he should ever get out but there might be meds to get his head on straight. Now, if in fact there is another person involved, older and sane, then I would agree with you.

Schizophrenia is not diagnosed prior to birth. He seemed to get radically worse in the past year. This is not someone claiming a mental breakdown or 'flash' of insanity but is exactly the kind of person the laws were meant for. Many in the system have abused the mental illness claim but I think this one is valid.

He will likely get the death penalty for killing a federal judge and the little 9 year old girl is especially horrific. But if he is unable to understand what he is doing, really, not just in a defense lawyer's fantasy, doesn't that matter?

Mental illness or not, he is a piece of human debris and is not worthy of any sort of 'treatment' or 'rehab'. Spare the expense to taxpayers and carry out the derserved punishment of a bullet point blank to his head - Just like this scumabg did to his victims.

The immediate "kill him" rants only come accross as a culture bent on killing and eye for eye mentality. Where have I heard that before? Are'nt we fighting this type of mentality? Fair trial, assesment and fair punishment with mental state in consideration. If everything points to sane, planned actions then death penalty is warranted.

Gotta stop the kill, kill, gun, gun mind set people. No wonder these guys are out there - look at the culture they live in. Violence? - no issues there. Fine, even for kids! Boobies? no way! God will punish you. Sheesh. God gave you your body, you gave yourself guns and attitude.

As with Kliebold and Harris, where in the fuck were his parents? They knew none of this? Motherfucker had "bum" written all over him, and these fucks are invisible.
 






I don't believe the Columbine killers were ever found to be mentally ill. They were cold, heartless, and over responded to imagined and real bullying. They were able to plot and plan under their parents' noses.

This kid is 22 years old. There's no way the parents knew everything he did each day. They were involved, according to some reports, in meetings with the school and dealing with his mental deterioration. I don't put this guy in the same group as Columbine nor with the guys who murdered, raped, and burned the family back east, at least not yet. If the sketchy facts prove true, that his mental condition rapidly changed during this past year, with the school issue just happening 3 or 4 months ago, you can't claim the parents were doing nothing until more details emerge. And don't forget, families' hands are tied when the child is an adult, making schizophrenia a particularly difficult situation.

Be clear - I am NOT defending his actions. However, our laws are meant to prosecute those who act with intent or even involuntarily but we are supposed to draw the line at the severely retarded and mentally ill.

Families face a deadly Catch-22. If their family member is so mentally ill they can't even recognize they are ill, they can't be helped until after they become "danger to self or others". Rather than preventing violence, the law in many states requires it. Families are the most frequent victims.

The crimes certainly fit death penalty criteria with the one question being his sanity. I haven't kept up with the news today and it will be critical for them to give some kind of timeline to his writings. If they can show there was planning before he really destabilized, then a death penalty conviction is more likely. This kid would likely be a very different person if he was properly medicated though.
 






Hey Sbelle, it looks like you are right. See the link attached that shows he claims he planned the attacks for some time. Also, for the lefty loons, take note of the letter from Gifford and the date that preceeded anything associated with Palin. BTW, he also had a knife.

Thankfully they have eliminated any additional assailants and found the man they thought was with him was just a cab driver who took him to the event.
