Januvia/Janumet XR/Janumet pharmacy card

You reps really need to step up and let the docs know that these cards do NOT work if someone is on Medicare!!! Pain in the ass to go to the pharmacy with this card (I was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes) and be told the card is not valid. I let the doc know, and since he was not told by the rep, went into his closet and threw away every one of the cards and said he won't Rx again.

Too bad....lost a huge prescriber.

It's called integrity, people.

You have RX drug coverage pay the required minor cost out of your pocket cheap shit. We owe you nothing!

You shouldn't take that garbage anyhow. It delays the use of insulin, which is likely what you should be using.

OP here -- sugar tested at 360, which I realize is not that high -- personally, I feel it's overkill. Isn't metformin (on it's own) considered first line therapy?

Oh, and I have no gut. Family history of late age diabetes. I'm 65.

It is illegal to interfere with Medicare pricing so that is why the cards are invalid for patients on Medicare. You should know that and so should the Doctor.

The quiet truth is that all oral meds are potentially damaging, in that they offer a false sense of security, when insulin is what could actually protect you. The oral meds are what they are because they are incredibly profitable (without Januvia, Merck would have ceased to exist several years ago). As those oral meds lose patent protection, there will be a big push to start insulin therapy much longer than history has dictated. Mark my words. It's all about the money.

I know it's all about the money for big pharma. I used to be a drug rep. If there was actually a cure for cancer, several companies would have to fold up. Same with diabetes and a lot of other diseases.

Living right, exercising, and eating the right foods are not enough anymore. I'm living proof of that. I'm going to go ahead and get the rx filled, but I really feel just metformin would do the trick
