January Layoffs













I doubt that soon. It will happen but suspect 2-3 months later. Guess nobody really knows??? Make you, your career, and your family a priority....Shire (Takeda) won’t.

Takeda HR and Shire HR have been meeting and making decisions on personnel for months. Our individual fate has already been determined. Now it’s just a matter of getting all the separation packages together and signed off on. Takeda shareholders aren’t thrilled with this merger and Takeda knows this. Therefore Takeda/Shire will be much leaner coming out the gates in January. It’s nothing personal, it’s business.

Congratulations on encouraging people to run for the hills. Bottom line is you are purely speculating and fear mongoring. You have no basis for your OPINION and although I agree that changes are imminent, you have no basis for your doomsday date and your insights on shareholders decisions. Your thread is the biggest issue I have with Cafe Pharma, it’s filles with people who claim to be in the know, but are merely letting people know that the sky is falling...

The difference between coffee and your opinion is that I asked for coffee!! You have no clue unless you are a member of the transition team!!!
 






Shire HR making decisions about my fate strikes more fear in me than the acquisition itself which is why I have never nor will ever put my career and life in their incapable hands. I've never worked with such incompetence (both past and present Shire HR regimes).
 






























You are incorrect on the former and correct on the latter. Decisions have been made.

I am absolutely sure of it. I believe RMs either know what territories will be dissolved or they have a role in the decision. I think they are making the decision. My RM has been flapping his lips with questions about territory lines and what would make more sense like giving parts of a territory to another.

When they 'reorganized' a year or so ago and eliminated most of US Medical Affairs, they did it on a massive call with some poor souls in the room who had only found out moments earlier that they were being terminated. People were crying. The ~200 people on the phone at least had the privacy of their homes or offices or cars or wherever they were to absorb the news. But it is correct, that any and all changes/layoffs have already been decided because there is a lot that goes into a severance, especially if it's a massive one - good luck folks. At this point I'd wait it out for the severance unless there's a big sign-on bonus somewhere else. No idea what severance will be but it might be something to get over a temporary unemployed situation.
 






people are so stupid. you can post anything anonymously and poke the hornets nest. why stop at massive layoffs. the industry will collapse on feb 15. the sky is falling the sky is falling.
 






Bottom Line: Shire is being acquired by Takeda....I may or may not have a job with Takeda in 3 months....I need a job so
I better take care of my own future and find one.
