January Field Rides

DSMs, I know you need to have something to do in January but please....don't go into offices with us this month. Just take us to lunch and go over numbers or something and leave us alone. Thanks, but we do not need you to "coach" us over the next few weeks.

DM here. WE know the model is broken, and it will be worse than ever since the average district will be between 8 to 10 reps. I am not going into offices. We are going to dive into the territory business and see where and what we need to be doing (if we are still here) in order to grow share. Most of all, I am going to take time to listen to my rep's concerns and thoughts. There are now many offices that do not allow managers. That's why districts of 8 to 10 reps are much too small. Were thinking they would be 14 to 15.

It's going to be one hell of a mess in the next few weeks. Good luck to all.

Dsm field rides are useless. Turn your 4 day work week with into a 3 day week. Take your "office days" on monday and fridays and leave reps alone. You offer absolutely nothing in field rides and the docsd and staff despise you. Great job to be able to be driven around all day and act like you know how to sell Please!

and then you have managers who schedule rides with reps who have self id, it is insane

Really? As a DSM, that is odd.

However, sometimes the best way to keep sanity is to keep things status quo until we all learn our fate. Whoever is left will be responsible for the business. I know you (and me) are all waiting w/ baited breath. I know it sucks. But, 2012 will be much more difficult if we don't start strong (again for those that are left). Until we get the "call", business as usual may be the best way to keep our sanity.

With changes in the geography of the territories, aka, changes in doctors, aka changes in targeting, aka changes in routing, aka changes in FSIP, aka changes in market share, aka changes in sampling, how can anything at this point be "business as usual"?

You know damn well that even if you do get through this huge layoff next week that you better be prepared to go through a smaller one in dec 2012 and dec 2013 for sure. It wont be huge but it will happen. You can be sure. The risk of all this is that the older you get as a PSS at AZ and the higher base you make, the more risk of getting dumped to the curb and never getting a sales job again due to high base and age. Think about it people, does big pharma need a 42 year old making $100k to do a completely trivial and self-humiliating job of getting samples all day and trying to slip in "doc, please remember to write Crestor". Its a joke of a job and you know it. I did it for ten years and felt like a 14 year old during field rides getting lectured at. Its the "land of the lost" at AZ.

You can bet your stylus that layoffs will occur again next year.

Are they REALLY, SERIOUSLY, going to ride with the reps that self-id?? Good God, AZ has stepped of the edge of the cliff of sanity!! If a manager has any brains whatsoever, take the time and congratulate the rep for surviving this damn long! Take them to lunch, make a little small talk, shake their hand and wish the best. But to actually make calls, that's even tacky and insensitive for AZ.

I know with the person that self-id in my district, I plan to do just what you said, and that's buy them lunch, shake their hand, and wish them well. That's all any DM should do in this situation.

State of confusion, indecisiveness and guaranteed insecure future at AZ - and these DSMs are behaving like nothing abnormal, out of the ordinary is to happen. They are trying to show their coaching skills like never before. These folks need to be given training in human psychology 101. Do they think their coaching is making any impact on us at all - LMAO! They seem to be forgetting that they may not be able to keep their cushiony jobs. I am sure AZ is making them to do this! May God help us all to deal with this insanity before the curtain finally drops!

what are the checkboxes for field rides?..and honestly does someone at the very top think field rides are productive or is it zs associates or some other consultant that sells this field ride model rap to pharma?

they want to tell the doctors you're leaving and have you say, "goodbye, everything is ok with you."
