What exactly did they get wrong? There was at least some reason to believe from the original data and frankly, the majority of costs for the program were already sunk, so why not try and move it forward? It's not as if Intercept has a rich pipeline to fall back on.

FDA strongly suggesting we should wait for outcomes data before re-filing. They should have listened or turfed the program entirely because of the LDL and A1C signals. All of these things came out in the wash in the ad comm. The leaders knew, we didn't.

Tons of money and time went into re-reading those path slides. Oh well, hindsight it 20/20. Other companies will benefit from our learnings. Or, Lily will just make everyone skinny and there won't be NAFLD anymore.

The fact is, leadership wasn’t caught off-guard by FDA’s decision. For years, they’ve chosen to remain in their bubble and push out anyone who “spread negativity”. We’re left with the sycophants.

Fire him, but fire him because he hasn't pushed the company outside of FXR agonism, perhaps next gen will have a better profile, but in general, this class appears to be quite limited in potential.

It’s almost like Sanofi is playing the long game since they can’t launch anything successfully. They promote incompetent misfits and cast them off to destroy the rest of the industry. Maybe if they destroy enough companies in the industry, they will look good by comparison.

this is 100% correct and probably the most insightful thing I have ever read on CP. Sanofi was the first Island of Misfit Toys and when that place had their reckoning/ downsizing it was essentially a malignant tumor metastasizing throughout the industry scattering ill equipped, immature so-called leaders across the industry. Ask any Sanofi person about their time over there and they will all position themselves as the person singularly responsible for any and all successes that company had. It’s not an indictment of the company but rather the collection of insecure Peter-principled a-holes that seemed to find a home there. Our HR and Commercial leadership are just another branch in that rotted family tree.
