It's Monday @ 11:00 AM in Largo

It's Monday @ 11:00 AM in Largo, and only three co-workers have asked if I know of anyone in the area that is hiring. Two others have asked if I've heard of any additional layoffs, oops, I mean restructuring. Definitely, a paranoid group of employees!

Hell, if I knew of someone hiring I wouldn't tell. I don't need any more competition for the jobs elsewhere.

Monday morning on Cafe Pharma after yakking with 5 other workers about quitting or being laid off. And you want a job some where else? Who would hire you ya lazy bastard?!!

Yeah, just a lazy bastard! Even Linvatec gives us time for lunch. I posted that while at Panera Bread across the street having my lunch soup and sandwich. Been on the job since 7:00 AM because I came in early to catch-up and prepare for some morning meetings. I realize that many of you road warriors put in longer hours to meet surgery schedules, but I and many of my coworkers will be working late most nights to make up for what used to be done by the other "useless bastards" having been laid-off.

This road warrior appreciates that there are still people in Largo who care. We realize management doesn't care what happens. It's nice to be a rep in the field and make a call to largo at 7:25 or so and get someone in CS who cares. This company can go on. If we can find good leadership.

I totally agree!!

So the question is, are you in or out? Are you looking for another job or committed to keep putting in the extra time to make your section of Linvatec rock solid? I wish people would stop complaining about leadership and just be one. I'm no JD fan by any stretch but try to remember that he's getting his orders from JC and the boys. And I hate to say it but some of the changes that have been made make sense and were long overdo. Oh god here comes the backlash to that comment!

It's not a matter of in or out for me. As long as I am here, I will give this job my "all". Loyalty to Linvatec, who keeps laying off some of the best employees, makes all of us question our loyalty. Many of us have to think about responsibilites to our families, kids in college, and elderly parents depending on our support. I personally can't afford to stay here with no raise, no more pension funding, and always wondering if I will be next on the "hit list". Losing my job would mean letting my family down.

Others have posted about the confusion surrounding how those whose were "eliminated" were chosen. A few were dead weight, womanizers, or incompetent. However, many were good hard working people who were the ones we went to "make things happen" when they need to happen. A couple of the R&D engineers who first to go were with the company for 20+ years. One guy was here early every morning and usually still at his desk well past 6PM. He knew his way though our red-tape and systems, better than most, and a many of us owed him for his past help. This guy got things done when no one else could figure out where to start. We need more like him, not fewer.

Okay this posting I understand. You are right of course it's hard to ever get comfortable when you feel like you're balancing on the edge of a cliff. And it can be a real struggle to maintain any kind of motivation under such conditions.
As for the layoffs as you say they did seem to get some of them right, but a lot of others were confusing because they were good people. Let's be honest though if a batch of people are being laid off no matter how well it is explained, to many folks it doesn't make sense. In some cases we have to say goodbye to best friends and colleagues who we have literally spent more time with than our own families.
You have to look after yourself first, expecting Linvatec or any company to be loyal is no longer the reality. Despite all the endless bashing on this board from other company reps (go back to the Arthrex board you gimps!) I think Linvatec still has a lot to offer. If it doesn't get sold it will settle in and right itself within the next twelve months. Just my opinion.
